Well I just spent all day doin the landy. Fixed my lack of no low range one of the linkage pieces was half broken and finally broke when I operated it again. I replaced the defective part for a good s/h unit (by the way andy your transfer box in the garden is now missing a part)Jobs a goodun. Then I decided to change my steering column as one of my uj's was starting to wear and make a clangin noise at speed (don't ask why I didnt just change the uj would have been alot easier!! Anyway job executed and found that my dash although hanging off needs some backlights sorting out. Its all fun people isnt it! Oh and i must fit a new steering damper so my nice shiny new ujs wont wear out as quick. Jai

Bleedin 'ell Jai that's a week's work that is!

bloody felt like it! Had to remove the Brake servo/master cylinder/pedal as one unit then change the steering column and ujs fit new steering wheel refit brake master cylinder and bleed brakes then re wire half the dash took speedo out to repair the broken back light still sitting on the kitchen worktop and thats as far as i got so it looks like an early start to get the mota back to running condition and pack all my tools and recovery gear ready to meet near Stanstead for 10am so much so little time Jai

We were planning on a little trip on Sunday but not sure where, you got any ideas???

Not really, I'm easy... (he says with a few 1664s inside him)

I got to be at home for a roastie planned for about 6ish, so don't want to go tooo far. I only habe the bedfodshire map so far, but i'm up for a challenge. if the worst comes to the worst gthere's always waddon.

I've never been to whaddon, what's it like? Only problem for me is that I'm on call so may have to cut the day short. So we can either do whaddon or check out some lanes. I'm easy, (and I'm sober) :D

Laid out a trial today had to winch a CCV motor from a bomb hole with 15 feet of water in it when he lets say, got a bit carried away laying out. Jai

Well Phil came over to give me a hand with the transfer box today, all went well until hementioned that there was a strange noise and some heat eminating from his nearside rear brakes. Thought I would take a look and offer the benefit of my years (months) of experience and sure enough there was a brake disk. calling this a brake disk might be stretching the imagination a little... there was a bit of metal with serious knackering going on.

OK so to change it... call Classic Kev and arrange to collect the replacements, which turned out to be the wrong ones, buy another set (Autoland shut by this point).

Anyway, to cut a long story short... Kev pitches in and saves the day with 2 replaced disks, Rose handles sustenance with lunch and dinner, Kai thinks xmas came early and I still don't have a xfer box working...

Wonder what tomorrow will bring!

ill be up at whaddon in the morning to try out my new disco, see you there, feel free to rescue me.... the 300 tdi seems so gutless after the V8's gone. cheers
