It's not meant to look pretty and it's a darn sight better looking than the plastic thing that was on there before!

LOL, It's your car ... and what do I know?

That's why I questioned the exposed rad .... Hopefully constructive criticism ... ;)

Why the dont put a couple of straight pieces of steel welded upright from left to right is beyond me then the damn thing would never bend.

Pintsize,

You are definatly modding your lil Rav, the front bumper isn't to my personal taste but its obviously took alot of time and effort for the lads and no doubt you love it and thats all that really matters isnt it. Keep up the good work. Jai

So there I was, all ready to finish off adjusting the handbrakes and replace the shoes with that stupid little clip (push, twist, ping off, swear, start again)... only to find the boy's got there first and finished the job off for me! RESULT!

So the Shogun's off to get a small patch welded tomorrow and then it's MOT time. We're really making progress here:D

Hopefully doing to xfer box on Saturday or Sunday. Might even get the dampers and Track Rod Ends done tomorrow!

Getting closer!

Yeah, I can feck anything up.

If you could read you'd notice that I have had a similar bumper that also looked awful, and tried to help by pointing out how vulnerable something low and at the front can be.

You are helping how, exactly?

Fight, Fight, Fight! Now now its not the playground.

When I first got my bumper I wasn't happy with the dia of the tube its approx 80mm-100mm diameter and I thought that it was too thin walled to be of any use. I thought it was a bit too weedy and that it would bend on the first tree or whatever got in its way when trialling. (IMO it should have been 6mm wall thickness and mabe 120mm dia) But I must admit its not bent yet and I have used it to push out old tree stumps and had quite a few very low speed knocks on trees and a concrete block when I failed to turn tight enough for a gate at comps but to date its all good.

So now I am happy I will probably bend it! Jai

Heheh, no worries on the strength of my old bumper, bumper but I just didn't like the look of it. It was fine for off-roading and play days, but we also go to caravan rallies, steam fairs and other 'normal' do's, so I put it back to a cut-down standard bumper. Not really lost much approach angle, and it doesn't look too aggressive any more. Bought it for £119, sold it for £122 ... ;)

Plus the mounting holes on it were too large I think, so after a few weeks the bumper moved about no matter how tight it was done-up.

anyone got an old standard disco 1 front bumper they want to donate, i took the plastic **** off mine yesterday to reveal the corners are nearenuf not there completly rusted away

Appreciate all comments but Mark, Kris and myself decided on the overall look and I didn't want it to look like a hairdressers car anymore :hysterically_laughi
We have taken into account all vunerable areas and this is still a work in progress. Even so, the Jap is not classed as a serious offroader and I have battered the living daylights out of it and it still comes back for more. It has excelled all my expectations and surprised everybody. Violets lane both ways and didn't drown was its finest moment!

Disco when you came trialling you met Andrew Flanders he was asking if you wanted to attend the next trial at the W/E Jai

Got a busy one this weekend, otherwise I would be very much up for that. Do they have future dates and then I can put them in the diary?
