Watching car progs like Wheeler Dealers and Car SOS, why on earth do they do them up, toon the engine up and say "Now it'll be able to keep up with modern traffic!"???
Modern traffic has a speed limit, max of 70 mph, but more and more other limits are prevalent. I drive from our place to Poole and the max I can do on that journey is 40 mph and that is for a very short stretch.
20 mph all over the place. I struggle to get lock up, i.e.e 55 mph, in the Disco driving from home to Bath.
Tis all a joke.

Track days is all you can do to "keep up with modern traffic" and enjoy it!
No wonder I don't miss performance driving the Disco.
Not just top speed. They will be finking about 20 to 50 acceleration.

As well as all the speed restrictions on the signage, it's hard to drive fast in most of the UK because of all the traffic. Going from Leicester to my place in Wales in the average day takes me ages, but going at 4 o'clock in the morning I can complete the trip in just over two hours, and that's without getting speeding tickets or being put on driving awareness courses. I used to wonder about giving my TD5 a remap and perhaps a bigger intercooler and turbo, but it's not really worth it, because in standard tune it can exceed all the speed limits you're likely to encounter in the UK.

I quite like the 'resto mod' genre, and had an acquaintance once who had taken the original 803 cc A Series out of his Austin A30 and substituted a 1275 unit with twin carburetors. That was quite fun and could really shift when you pressed the loud pedal. But for most traffic conditions in Britain it hardly seems worth it.

Morning all, off to get the lorry & pick up some guttering & a couple of bits of timber.

No rain or wind here atm. Not looked at the weather it did look as if the coast was going to get a battering. :(
So far we have not heard that Waitrose are not going to be delivering, which I think is a bit strange seeing as they are relatively high-sided vans.
Maybe they are leaving it to each individual driver to decide, which to me isn't very responsible. :(

I dont have pics of any of my old minis. :( Shame they were minted too.
One I built in the nineties for my son, it would do 60 in 8 seconds and top out at 95, not bad in the day 🙂

Couldn't tell you the speed or acceleration but it had 75 bhp as measured on a rolling road.
Went like a bat out of hell.
Nice, was that a Chelsey or something?
Mine would have had around that but I had a low diff for acceleration, it would top out on the revs in top gear, later cars were geared for economy except the later Coopers which had a 3.1 in I think
