Stick a Freelander badge on it. Nobody will nick itI wonder if I should fit extra security to it; because it might be too tempting for the "boy-racers" to ignore and British cars always had such easily defeatable locks.

Just for your information
The two studs that hold the engine number in place actually unscrew if you get under them with a small screwdriver.
Only visible difference between a standard 1275 and a 998 or 1098 is the carb size and the 1275 has two core plugs in the clutch end of the block whereas the others have only one.
Sporty 1275 has extra stud in head of course but MG etc dont (except MG 1300GT and Van den plas etc)
It's not a big problem, I would tell dvla you bought the car and notice that the engine number is wrong and could they change it,
Did you need to provide the DVLA with any paperwork to prove the new engine was legit?
Got all the numbers etc off it.Wots the make, model and part number ovvit? Can't be that difficult to wuk oot worrit does. Smoke controls a fing blocking/unblocking a hole.
Dead right!!Thanks all, I am feeling very much reassured that I will be ok with the Historic Mini.
It will feel good to ride around in it knowing no road-tax is due and the ULEZ etc. can go do one.

Love this!!The thermostat housing is different as is the top rad hose, if I think about it for a while im sure there are another few things
but only a mini guru would know by looking at it. Tappet chest breather & the breather on the timing chain cover are different too.
I also had a hidden microswitch that took current to the points off to the chassis so even if jumped the car wouldn't start.Get a removable steering wheel.
Sorry to hear your dear lady is unwell. Have a quiet "together time" at home instead.Sitting here when we should both be driving to Chichester to enjoy the Royal Marine Band Christmas Special.
We often go and it is a great evening.
But W's guts are playing her up too much for us to be able to attend.
I'd email the tickets to anyone on here who wants them except that they are for a handicapped person and her carer, so a bit cheaper, which means it'd be dodgy.
Such a shame, still, there you go...
