Morning All. :D
A lovely bright day here. :)
Off to see scout group this afternoon, they run 2 racing pedal-cars and they want some help with maintenance.
I have no idea about these specific cars, but I know more than they do.
Have a great Friday. :D
I had one of these as a nipper. Prolly the same principal, their feets must be a blur.. ;)

Not much of a "Professional" then is he? Nope!

Does the boiler fire up? Nope!

Does it shut itself down shortly thereafter? Nope, (obvs).
Has the "overheat" trip popped and needs a reset? dunno, but as it hasn't got hot for ages and has never overheated, even if it has one I doubt it has, but good question to ask the electrician when he comes on Chooseday. There is a pump over-run stat but even if it is fubar the boiler still fires up and the flipping pump works. i have had to replace it a few times so I know how it behaves both when working and not and the effect it has. When fubar the boiler, makes the pipes bang like mad. So I know when it needs changing.
TBH the pump isn't turning at all, so it isn't getting signal from either of the two stats, the one in the hall and the one on the tanks. Even with the boiler switched off, the pump should run when the stats call for heat. Or at least the old one would!
So I suspect the new motorised valve, or maybe the thicko didn't wire the pump properly.
But I also am concerned that the pump is a modern one which apparently "senses" stuff, it certainly doesn't have the switch the old one had which went "off, 1,2".

And you know me, anything with the word "sensing" i.e flipping electronix, it sends me down a dark hole.

Well your plumberer has really left you "Staned" ;).

I would expect a plumber who takes on boilers to have experience of the electrics for heating systems as a basic requirement.

Fire up the boiler.
Does the new pump come on? (is it like for like(ish)?)

You had a degree of heating and hot water before so something works, whats changed?

J
You tell me!
The boiler won't fire up I can switch it from "off" to "high" or "low" and nothing happens. Which to me means it isn't getting a signal from either stat. (The pilot light is burning fine.)
I have kept the old motorised valve so maybe when the sparks turns up he'll use that to try it out.
Or connect it direct to the mains to see if the flipping thing actually turns. It IS full of water and does not hum or do anything at all.
It appears he can fit a new boiler and make it work as he did one straight after not being able to make mine work.
We are both concerned that this has got totally out of hand.
We did have a degree of heating and hot water, and if I had discovered the closed off gate valve that shouldn't have been we would not be in the poop that we are in now. Totally my fault, and all because one flipping gate valve didn't do its job properly. And bizarrely it IS now working. (After I played with it A LOT.)
But the pump is deffo toast, smelly toast at that, so it did need changing, and the motorised valve also DID need changing as it was noisy, enough to wake me up during the night.
Yes, the pump is like for likeish, as I said in a previous post, it would appear it is difficult to get one exactly the same. It is a Grundfoss, like the old one.
Life sucks sometimes.

Twuz juss anuvva fing as em ztole vrum us. We ad mines tu, yer know!
I meant "the pasty" i.e. the brand, not "their pasty" as yes even I know, cos I lived in Debun for a year, that there are, or were, mines there to.
(Did my PGCE in Zecketer, and lived in an old school house in Ashcombe near Dawlish.
Fabulous year, loved it! ):):):)

Can't you just use the Disco? Or don't the rear seats fold forward? Or don't you have any? I know it's been "bobbed"
Saying this cos I picked up 150 roof tiles in the back of my Disco, admittedly, in two goes but got 100 in first time. Each tile weighing 4 kilos. I often take the rear seats out to make room.

So yessdi's meal for dottir and son in law went fine.
Afterwards we both fell asleep in fron of the telly so I didn't get to bed till 3 a.m.
when we eventually get off our backsides, and after we have done some shopping we'll have to clear up!
Twas a roast dinner so loads of pans and serving dishes used,
Have a nice rest of the day folks!:):):)

What sort of controller do you have and did he go into that when he did the work?
I don't see why he should have. But if you now cant even fire up the boiler something has changed, I think it has nothing to do with you trying to bleed/drain your system to do the work.

Even with the boiler switched off, the pump should run when the stats call for heat. Or at least the old one would!

I am pretty sure that shouldn't be the case.
