You'll see that our nearest town is in the middle of a region which is "granites, eruptive rocks and orthogneiss vein rocks. Dacite from Puech del Fau"
So we can find andesite, basalt, dacite, obsidian, pumice, rhyolite, scoria, and tuff. As well as granite. But by far the most common is granite.
And if you look under the words MAZAMET N0 1012 you can faintly make out "Labrespy" which is our hamlet. So we really are smack in it.
The reason for the towns amazing prosperity back 200 years or so, and since. up until the late 60s was the quantity and quality of the water which made it ideal for separating wool from (dead!) sheepskins, a process known as "délainage". Basically it is very acid and has other minerals in it. Sheepskins came from all over the world hence Rue Bradford, Rue Australie, etc. Factories were built up and down all the neigbouring valleys whereever there was a stream or a river.

Since then the world discovered chemistry and found out how to do it themselves!

So maybe this has a bit to do with our springs and stuff.

I wore them from when I was 18 until my left eye could no longer stand them when I was about 55. Wish to Heavens I still could. So much better than giglamps! They were the hard variety none of this modern slush!
(Which is prolly why the left eye eventuallysaid that enuff was enuff! );)
 
Have to confess I don't often barbecue.
But recently I did some kebab things that W put together and they were lush.
Tonite I did slices of aubergine and some Mexican style spare ribs together with my usual fillet steak.
I was worried that I would have to cook the ribs right through until I espied on the pack that they was pre-cooked and just marinaded.
W who eats with her eyes and her emotions rather than her taste buds and her logical brain, plus hates anything "burnt" and cannot tell the diff tween burnt and caramelised, decided she didn't want any ribs as they would be "fatty" and she doesn't do "fatty" unless she herself has some fancy way of doing it.
I pointed out that as they were precooked there wouldn't be any fat.
Cut no ice.
So I cooked 'em and they weren't burnt, they weren't fatty, they were fabbo!
But no she couldn't be convinced to even try one. Such a shame. So I got outside of 8 ribs, one fillet steak, the aubergine (smallish) plus my usual sautéd veg, i.e. shallot, courgette, mushrooms cherry tomatoes, with oregano and garlic.

She had cold meat and chips.

I love ribs but I hate fat on anything, even bacon its get launched before it goes in the pan & I cook it separate & give it
to the dogs.

Here's a thing I have always avoided barbeque sauce, but recently I do like the taste. My mate ordered BBQ ribs from the
chinky n said here try these ok Huckkk Twooooo n spatt it out wft thats gravy wheres the bbq sauce they've made a
total dunt of that lol He said thats what they call BBQ ribs. Me = eh pizz off thats bisto on yer ribs 🤣 🤣 🤣
Nowt BBQ about them. When I get ribs I get them without sauce n a couple of slices of lemon squeezed over them.
or king doo wribs.

Well, unless you don't like the taste of Mehico, you'd have liked these ribs, no fat whatsoever on 'em.

Yer im a big softie when it comes to my eyes I hate peeps touching eyes, I remember at school we had to dissect a bulls eye
bloody tough thing trying to get it to stop skiting about so I took the scalpel knife n gripped it in my hand n whacked it in
a overhead stabbing motion & whack........eye caught the edge of it....loads of juice squirted over the lass I fancied & the eye shot across the room & caused a riot girls screaming chairs flying ect. 🤣 🤣
 
Picked another shed-load of appuls today,
Gonna do the same tomoz so up at about dawn to beat the heat.
What a way to spend a Sunday.
But we learned the hard way that if you don't pick 'em just before they go off to the crusher then more of 'em go off in the boxes.
And he only presses apples on a Monday. Small sacrifice to make for the totally delish flavour of your own apples made into juice.

It is said that pro landscape photographers can spend days waiting for just such an effect.
I have always wanted to capture one like this with the sunlight hitting Corfe Castle in the gap it was built to defend in the Purbeck hills.

so good on you for not needing too much patience to capture such a lovely scene!

Its on the Gareloch towards Faslane, I was driving & thought thats nice so drove until I could get the sun shinning on the boats
& pulled in for a wee pic. :):)
