Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Money is really tight at the moment, want to get out and do some lanes or something but got to sort out bills and catch up on repairs with my fleet of vehicles first. Hope to get things sorted out soon and looking forward to catching up with everyone at the pub meet and maybe see some of you at the London to Brighton run.

Its not so much a matter of whether you can afford it... its more how often! Now that I don't need to use the V8 as a daily drive, we can budget for our days out accordingly. Its worth remembering also, that I got the car cheap because it is a V8, so although I moan little about fuel prices... I couldn't really have my cake AND eat it! ;)

Money is tight for everyone, its the current climate and everyone is feeling it. Alas my 90 is now resigned to a weekend toy that gets abused more that it should hence its state! Can't wait till the pub meet I could do with a pint now actually, Jai

Well good evening all! Had another go at getting the damn starter motor out this evening... even had the long extension as advised. No luck... top bolt just refuses to be pursuaded. Could try dynamite but there might be some collateral damage (not to mention sending rose into labour!). Ah well... give it another try tomorrow soaked the thing in WD40 so I livein hope!

Hi Ryder ... You got those bolts out yet ?? If not u want me to have a go im good at getting tricky bolts out !! John

Hey Kev,

Bought a compressor yesterday, fired it up today but not sure what pressure is normal to set. Also, borrowed a windy gun but the coupling seems to be radically different to the one on my air line. Are there lots of different types?

Looks like I got a bit of catching up to do.

First up - Big Big thanks to Jai and his dad who came to give me a tow home. Yes folks the Rangie is having another hissy fit. It quite literally "just stopped", I suspect either the fuel pump or a dramatic ignition failure. Will be having stern words with it tomorrow.

Ryder, mmmm compressors - great aren't they. For the windy gun and air ratchet I set the regulator to 6 bar. Yes there are different types of fittings. Machine Mart & Screwfix probably easiest to order from. You could try Weld Air in High Street North. Whatever you do though just be careful cos it is real easy to properly damage stuff with air tools.

Anyway, yeah I know what the rest o' you guys are sayin. Gets expensive this 4x4 lark specially if you break fings or run a V8 - but you know what, I don't care cos I just love the noise and apart from that what else would I want to do at the weekend except get covered in god knows what while I crawl under the Rangie tryin to fix it (again!!) LOL.

So have we decided on a date and time for our pub meet?

Cheers.

No worries about the tow think my dads trying to get hold of a cb today the question is: If he gets one will we ever get a word in edgeways? As for the pub meet I believe we all kinda concluded that the next one will be on wednesday 1st October at 8pm at the pub we used for the salisbury meet. If that doesnt ring any bells where i tried to set fire to myself with the candles lol

Then every first wednesday in the month there after

PM's will be sent out as soon as I get some spare time on the comp at home Jai

Jai,

Info assimilated - will buy you a pint. If you want any assistancewith putting the CB in let me know, have SWR meter will travel!!

Depending on where the aerial is mounted it might be worth fabricating a ground plate. I could knock you one up it's just a bit of sheet steel with a ground lead but works wonders. The other option is to run a separate ground to the aerial.

i think im gonna have to make a cleaver removable or foldable earth plane for my winch mounted aeriel. although mine was set up very roughly I could hear most things clearly the only killer was the noise from landy although you never know how your transmission is being recieved. Note to self must fit my external speaker somewhere i can hear Jai
