    My D2 td5 has a droning noise

Sounds like my old disco td5 lift the wheels up to check for play and nothing couldn’t get it to sound better or worse when cornering and also quietened down at speed but was extremely noisy when driving at and below town speed. It was a wheel bearing on the front. It was strange as it just...

    It’s bloody hot out there.

If it’s a similar layout to my old e46 330d which I imagine it might be. The air con system needs quite a lot of gas. When I did mine the passenger side got ice cold whilst the two drivers side vents were still warm. I forget why this is but I had to fill the air con system until the drivers...

    Switch from a Series?

Is the 90 original? The engines in the early 90's weren't exactly powerful and you probably wouldn't notice a huge difference in power, the lt77 gearbox is a massive improvement over the series for usability but loses that nice mechanical feel. Coil spring suspension is more comfortable and...

    TRACTION CONTROL

It sounds like an abs sensor getting a wrong reading and thinking one wheel is spinning at a different speed to the others so applying the brake to that wheel. you'd have to have live data read to see the abs sensor readings, any significant difference in a sensor will be the faulty one.

Double Din conversion without moving the heater controls

Your best bet is to do as I did on mine move the heating controls lose the fold out cup holders and buy the American style cup holders that mount either side of the high/low range lever. The only other way to get a screen in is a flip out screen on a single din headunit.

Opinions on the pitfalls of buying a 3/4 year old Freelander2?

Thanks a 2000 model year will be the newest Land Rover I’ve ever owned. My last discovery was a 1999 but I find the fixing up the fun part about owning one. From the sounds of things it’s too good to scrap or be ‘off roaded’ if you are going to part with it drop me a message.

Opinions on the pitfalls of buying a 3/4 year old Freelander2?

I’m currently looking for a replacement for my old td5 disco which is suffering from rear chassis rot. If you’re planning on selling your discovery 2 I’d be very interested.

    Suspension Explosion

Mine was very similar to that to the point where the shock mount actually ripped right off. I did fix it and got it all working, the problem is knowing that unless you like doing chassis welding or have deep pockets you’ll have to do it every year until you give up on it. That’s what I did...

Anyone got a remapped td5 disco I could experience?

I’m not far from the border of Somerset but I test drive will definitely convince me whether to get the map. Cheers

Anyone got a remapped td5 disco I could experience?

hi all I’ve got a discovery as a second vehicle but with my current situation it may turn into my daily and only means of transport. Now mine is running as it should according to diagnostics at my local Land Rover specialist but I’m wanting more for hills and motorway driving and the occasional...

Any advice for a first landy?

I’ll give you some advice I’m 22 so understand the difficulties with insuring a Land Rover at a young age. Series and defenders are very expensive to insure although you might save money on tax with tax Exempt examples but due to their complete lack of anything safety related they are costly to...

Disco 2 Full throttle up hill causes engine to die

Disco 2 Full throttle up hill causes engine to die

Egr has been properly removed. I’ve been playing with the boost to see if it helps but it hasn’t currently it’s at 19psi. I have remembered that there was an intermittent fault code on injector 3 so i don’t know if the injector harness is on the way out

Disco 2 Full throttle up hill causes engine to die

Thanks for the reply. The wastegate modulator is already by passed, I’ve had live data in the maf and map and they are reading within the tolerances. Can’t remember the exact figures at present. Brand new silicone hoses fitted and no leaks, no egr valve. Engine revs right up to 4500rpm on the...

Disco 2 Full throttle up hill causes engine to die

I’ve noticed a possible weird problem with my td5 discovery. When going up hills in a high gear for example 4th or 5th on a dual carriageway or motorway I’ve noticed if I have a run up then put my foot hard down the engine slowly looses revs until I have to change down. However if under the same...

    TD5 Crank position sensor.

It’s a lot of money but it’s the only sensor that will stop the td5 working. Get it sorted and you know you’ll never have to worry about it.

    Disco 2 Reverse Camera

You can get kits for about £100 which includes the camera and a monitor (either a small screen or built into a rear view mirror) the easiest option is wirelessly transmitting the signal from the camera to the monitor however this is more susceptible to interference. I have not used one of these...

    Goblin Garage!

The exact vehicle with the pictures taken by the female photographer in the show sold on eBay for £10,100. So land rovers sell better at there normal height than slammed.

l322 undertuned on leaving factory gates.

I have a 330d from the same era as the td6 Range Rover and the engine is glorious, nearly 50mpg when cruising on the motorway, smooth, quiet and powerful from about 1200rpm all the way to the redline. They should’ve done to the Range Rover what bmw did when they put it in the x5 up the power...

    Disco 2 ABS common/known problem?

What brand were the sensors? I’d only use genuine ones. My disco had new hubs at the back before I bought it and they came with some cheap nasty abs sensors. Going by the invoice they had only lasted a month.
