    Looking into a D2 landmark

The biggest single problem with Discovery II is the rear end chassis rust, really serious. You need to establish condition of this very carefully as it's expensive to repair. Dave

Looked at a cheap Disco 2 and walked away. But should I reconsider?

No it's not the same TC in the TD5 and the V8. The stall speed on the TD5 version is 2600-2800rpm whereas the v8 one is 2200-2400rpm. In other words the v8 TC controls the engine revs much better. Dave

    CD changer

Yes I did. It was better afterwards. I use a USB key in the front so it's all digi sound.

    Belt pulleys

If you've got the proper fan tool and a 15mm socket and driver you can do it easy in 5 mins.

    Belt pulleys

There's the hard way and the easy way of doing something. If you remove the fan, you can then directly deal with the tensioner. How are you going to remove the plastic cowl on a TDi 300, with the fan in place?

Some pics of my Disco :D

Hi there, are you SURE that stuff is the equivalent of MTF94? Seems the viscocity is a bit on the thick side?

fault 4014 pump failure 3 sticking

Yes, communicate in punctuated English and give us a chance to understand you and what the problem is. I've tried to turn your post into something clear but to be honest there's not enough there to work with. People who can't be arsed to communicate clearly in English, don't deserve to be...

Very hard to change/get into gear

Well the first thing I would do is to order up the plastic cage and the bias plate so you've got them in stock, before you open up the gubbins. To access these elements you will need to remove the centre console and the riveted plate which will allow access to the top of the gearbox and the...

Looked at a cheap Disco 2 and walked away. But should I reconsider?

In the last 2 months I've bought, in the UK, 2 TD5 manuals - the first one for £1240 and the second, an ES for £1400. The first I spent almost nothing, the second needed a pas pump and a water pump, so £200. Both had good workable chassis, both passed their Contrôle Technique without fault...

Very hard to change/get into gear

Re no. 4 : There is a plate with 2 springs at the base of the gear lever and this is what gives the spring-loaded feel and neutral at the 3/4 gear positions. This plate is adjustable side to side, to optimise gear selection. Beneath this plate is the "Bush-change pivot manual transmission" (or...

    Chugging when slowing down

Even in spite of this little issue I think the OP is quite chuffed with his D2.

    CD changer

I have exactly the same car as you and a new head unit will fit within 5 mins. Take out the old one, undo the std connectors, plug in the new one and off you jolly well go. Sell the head unit, connecting cable and CD changer on Ebay. I did and it more than paid for new kit. Dave

    Chugging when slowing down

I'm sorry guys, last nights wine session has de-railed my ability to link up to this thread. I think I need to coal it a day, for heavy drinking. I wonder if the noise is being caused by the Beeching valve closing too soon. I can't see a clear answer for all the steam/diesel fumes...

    My TD5 Discovery...

Hi Drizz, this looks like it's going to be an interesting thread. Just one quick question: the white one, it's a facelift car isn't it? So I was wondering why you fitted a pre-facelift bumper on it?

Very hard to change/get into gear

It could be: 1. Air in the hydraulic circuit of the clutch, so when you press the clutch pedal the clutch release bearing is not pressing onto the cover plate enough; 2. Clutch release bearing is collapsing; 3. Oil in gearbox needs topping up/changing - re-fill with MTF94; 4. Bias...
