So seeing as all my transmission is brand spanky, and my engine is singing along merrily at the front, I thought I better give my poor old LT77 some loving because it's making more funky ass noises by the day :D

No signs of stopping working mind, in fairness to it!

Anyway, decided Id break the law and get some MTF94 for it, seeing as it's clearly better than ATF and well, it'll either love it or hate it :behindsofa:

Hi there, are you SURE that stuff is the equivalent of MTF94? Seems the viscocity is a bit on the thick side?
 
The only reason I was wanting td5 is that it might be later suffix

Also would need to recheck gear ratios

I'm only winding you up though pal I'll only be in a rush when this one explodes! :D

Dave, regards viscosity, it is the equivalent apparently and the blurb says its specially designed for rover, Honda, mini, land rover etc etc

I have used it in various vehicles before and its nowhere near as gloopy as a 75w90 gear oil

You know when you slosh a bottle around, this sounds/feels akin to ATF rather than gear oil.

But yeah it's supposed to be the right stuff for sure.
 
So this is me getting to bed at least 5 hours later than planned today :(

I feel like **** so I thought I'll jusf check the axle oils, grease the props and change the gearbox oil tonight and get an early one.

Until I found the rear axle had water in :( :( :(

I think the NSR drive member gasket was leaking, as there was evidence of oil in the wheel etc, bummer.

So I stripped the whole axle down, cleaned it out and rebuilt it, just what I needed.

Have used gasket sealer on the flanges now instead, and removed the front to out sealer on them too.

Otherwise just normal stuff, regards the MTF it is easily as thin as if not slightly thinner than ATF, so it'll be no worries in that respect.

I hope the more advanced fluid helps the elderly box stay healthy!
 
Hi Sam just a quick question if you dont mind mate how did you end up fitting the bucket seats as i have fixed mine to the original floor rails but they wont fit in the only way i can get them to fit is if i slide the whole seat and mount closer to the centre console but i cant drill new holes in the floor as it is directly in-line were the sill connects to the floor underneath if that makes sense so i am thinking of welding L brackets to the seat mount to set it of a little bit but was just wondering how you fitted yours

Flat plate bolted to top of seat mounting. Drill plate to suit bucket seat easy peasy innit???

I've mounted the seat to the mount that was fine but because the new seats are allot wider they catch on the b post they will fit but the holes i need to drill into the floor to secure the seat are exactly were the sill is welded to the floor under the car

Better off dumping the bucket seat frame and using the one that came with disco. Never had any trouble fitting my Bucket seats into a 200tdi disco. and they were the ones with fold down backs.

They are the original mounts from the old seats it was a bastard getting them to fit the buckets but when i matched the seats upto the original holes the side of the bucket seats hit the B post i can weld L brackets to the mounts and drill holes that way i was just wondering if anyone had the same problem i will upload a pick to show you what i mean cheers
 
Remove original sliders from original seats and bolt back into car

Bolt large plate onto frame

Bolt seats onto plates :)

Look back to some point in 2013 and you'll see a load of pics from when I fitted mine with a bit of step by step I think

This is mine. Like Sam, I bolted the original runners in place, bolted a slab of 6mm chequer plate on top and then new seats on top of the plate.
