What did you do with your Range Rover today

So, just a quick question. I am about to remove the carbs today. One to replace the rocker cover gasket and the other to fix the choke I screwed up. I have Allmakes gaskets, the workshop manual says I should use some kind of clue, Bostik 1775. Is it possible to fit the gaskets without the clue...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Usually people do that with flight hours. So am I right to assume you own the only working LR prototype of a flying car?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

If twice is holding longer combined than expensive, at the same price, everything is fine! I guess... I run Britpart prop shafts, front and rear. For not even a hundred bucks a piece before Brexit, I thought it's easier to replace those than some axle components. Anyway, prop shafts survived...

Unless it drops below 10, then you all of a sudden care. Well, your bank account does anyway.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just tried to fix the fuel leak. Well, no luck. The bottom end of the tank breather is brittle but not leaking, the upper end is so. I can get to it to replace it, it's brittle enough that tightening it doesn't help either. And with the tank full (I filled up to check fuel consumption...) I...

New to Forum, had many Landys / RR's

It's always surprising what you can do with some spanners in your drive way. But yeah, a fully equipped workshop would be nice. And the proper training, as opposed to self teaching on the job from workshop manuals! Ah, and welcome!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just took delivery of the bits and pieces, especially the engine and gearbox gasket sets are important! So next week I'll replace all the leaking gaskets I can get too, especially oil pan, rocker covers, transfer case and handbrake. Well, I also realized, while picking up the tools to fix the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

No compression test done yet. I did screw up the left carb already once, so my best guess would be to start there. And to recalibrate both carbs, now that the snorkel is off. Well, I'll do all that once the gaskets are there. I just hope it ain't anything serious... Thing is the MOT is due in...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yeah, I would too. Workshop manual says: Swimmer level, carbs too rich, stuck choke, idle too high (it's idling around 600-700, so I'd say that's fine), wrong carb damper oil. In case it is the compression, what can be the cause for that? Cam shaft? Or can it be the ignition as well? EDIT...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Ah, just filled her up after removing bullbar, roofrack... Around town, and 30 km hauling a kayak on the roof (with simple roof bars) without motorway the consumption was 30 l/100km. That is 9 mpg (UK). I do have the feeling something is wrong... Because that cannot be the tires alone...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

As everyone is talking speed, I had to a speeding ticket on the Autobahn, in our RRC, today. Cheap enough with 10 bucks, but it proofed me wrong in my opinion that speeding outside of cities is impossible. Also, the new job finally came through. Took them long enough, almost 4 months and seven...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just witness a grail storm adding some dents to the already dented roof. Now I have two bigger and a couple of smaller acceleration dents to get rid of. Good question regarding Britpart and Bearmach, for me Bearmach was always the higher tier supplier in case I can't live with, worst case...

Classic Retrofitting Fairey Overdrive to LT95

Hi there! So, no news regarding the new job, and thus RRC budget, but I do have a guy that is willing to send a Overdrive from the UK to Germany. Sounds good so far. All searches so far didn't return any real difficult things regarding the fitting. Besides locking the gearbox in third gear...

May I introduce RollsRoyce, the new family 1982 RRC

Oh, and I'll also have to weld all the small holes in the bonnet, the lower tail gate and the roof shut. And remove all the dents and scratches after sand blasting. The mechanical stuff is more important so. Oh, and I finally sorted the electrics, everything is working bow as it should! And I...

May I introduce RollsRoyce, the new family 1982 RRC

Today she lost weight! Bullbar, rear tow ball and roof rack went of. Curious how fuel consumption will be, maybe tomorrow. I am faced with small problem so. Everyone in my family considers her ugly now... At they do have a point. Before, she looked like that slightly beat up, rugged expedition...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

So, today the old lady lost, best gestimate, 80-90 kg of weight, half of it on the roof. Meaning I removed the bullbar (appr. 10kg), roof rack (appr. 40 kg) and the rear towing ball (rated at 6.5 tons it came it at at least 30kg probably more). Fuel consumption test drive maybe tomorrow! The...

Please talk me out of this

Depending on the price of the car, and the engine damage, which could make that particular one a bad buy, I have a hard time to talk you out of a good Range Rover! And that one looks good! Being a Diesel means, no idea about actual Diesel prices in Sweden, reasonable fuel economy. Emissions and...
