Series 1 series 1 trek scotland

Er, a Perkins Prima engine . At least one of the others, has a 200 TDI . I am not sure about the truck cab . This group of Chappies go by the name of Team Faff and have a number of other sets of videos on YouTube , which I find much more interesting . Steven Patchett has become quite expert at...

    ambulance

I take your point about losing another piece of history but I would have thought that any changes that you might make could be reversible . However , I have no problem with you keeping it as it is ( as if my opinion counted for anything ) and I hope you get years of pleasure from it . I must...

So if you are not going to use it as a camper what are you going to do with it ?

    Hard Top Series 1 88”

The hard tops are the same for both the 86" and the 88" . I don't think Series 2/3 hard tops would fit Series 1s as they are wider . If you are not a member of this Forum it might pay you to join and ask your question there . They regularly come up for sale there ...

    Classic landrover magazine

I have subscribed to CLR since about issue 6 and think it is the best of the Land Rover magazines . But I would say that as I have had an article about mine in it . I occasionally buy LRO , but usually only for any Series One content . Over the years I have noticed that CLR , like the others ...

    Defender to Series doors.

Rather than buy new , you could probably pick some second hand ones at Newbury next weekend . Just a thought .

    Anyone put a 300tdi in a 6 cylinder?

If you have the chassis number it should not be too difficult to find out exactly when it was built . It could be worth doing some research to see what you have . It won't be in the first 1500 or so built as they still had the 2ltr engine but you never know it might be one of the first 2.25ltrs...

    Anyone put a 300tdi in a 6 cylinder?

I just noticed this post and I thought I would chip in . If as you say your Land Rover is a 1958 Series 2 , not 2a, then it could possibly be one of the very early Series 2s which could make it potentially collectible . If you do restore it then keeping it as a 2.25 petrol would make it more...

    Leaf spring preservation

But you paid so much for it , surely you would want to get many years of use from it !

    Leaf spring preservation

I think the idea of lubricating them is to reduce friction between the leaves , making them more supple and making the ride better . The springs are more likely to sag than Rust/wear away . This must be a Land Rover thing as you don't read about doing this sort of thing with any other 4x4.

Series 1 Barn find (an actual one)

Not really , I can only guess there is more to the story than is being told here . Or that they managed to travel through Europe and part of England without being challenged . Quite brave of them really , though you would have thought that as they were driving around Europe and eventually taking...

Series 1 Barn find (an actual one)

As a postscript , there is an article in issue no. 57 of Classic Land Rover magazine of an early Series2 88" owned by a chap called Julian Shoolheifer which might make interesting reading for you . His is also very original and looks very similar to what the one in your photos could look like...

Series 1 Barn find (an actual one)

That is an early Series 2 , as others have said , which makes it rarer than a Series 1 as they were only made for three years . They became the 2a in 1961 , which are obviously more numerous . They are becoming more sought after and their values are rising all the time , If I were in the market...

    Out logging

22nd-24th June . I suspect there will be quite a few coming from your neck of the woods . There are about 145 bookings already made , so should be a big event .

    Great Series 2 Dormobile

The Series one station wagon would probably fetch £6-8,000 in Britain , as they are indeed rare and sought after.
