I like to see pictures of landies doing work they were designed for. Especially when they aren't pristine show motors.

ur so right , wonder what the number is that don’t even see a blade of grass, ie the chelsea tractors

one of my landies was an ex british gas series 3 109 , it had side shutters and converted it back to a normal hard top, was an awesome landy , think it was the 5 x bearing engine and had some fantastic holidays in dorset with the kids, they loved the idea we could get off the beaten track , always makes me smile when i think back

I was surprised and impressed by how much my grandchildren love my old series. It's uncomfortable, noisy, no stereo and smells of oil and exhaust but it's their car of choice for trips out.

same with my kids , they adored putting there duvets and pillows in the back and was like an adventure for them

to think no seat belts in the back either

i also had a series 2a safari , but they still preferred the 109 so they could spread all the duvets in the back, all they had to amuse them for the drive was colouring books, cards and never heard had a complaint , apart from screaming i need the loo , lol

I would like to take mine on holiday to West Wales, I love it around Aberdovey but the missus won't have it at any price, moans about how uncomfortable and noisy it is... We are both in our 60s now and I would like one more adventure before it's too late. I can see us driving along the coast road to Barmouth or winding among the mountains, it's such a shame she can't see the fun and achievement of it. The Land Rover is more than capable of making the trip.

is urs a petrol or diesel plse , only ever had 1 x diesel , 88 , that was enough , then went with petrol

It's a 200 Di, lovely engine but noisy, does 30+mpg. Needs a bit more sound-proofing but is quite civilized at cruising speeds.

Used to go Barmouth/Harlech & beyond in the series 2.
Lovely green lanes from aberdovry to Fairbourne. Journey 230 miles each way.
If really "bored" wife takes series 1 & stop at steam shows onnway up.
Motors are built to work not admire

that's exactly why they will like it! we took for granted growing up with that!, when mu mum smoked a fag in the old three door morris minor - we all sat in the back and choked!

Have you been to the Cregennan lakes? Under the shadow of Cadair Idris. Well worth a detour, stunning country, reminiscent of the Lake District. And the Blue Lagoon in the same area, a flooded slate quarry with views out over towards Barmouth.

SWMBO got this as a 14th birthday pressie from her dad. Yep in boxes so she had to rebuild it. If it breaks down she fixes it.
1 of the series in the photo done the lands end/John o groats(le jog) classic car rally. Flat out 40mph no motoways, so distance is no worries to us.
Prices are stupid.you can get them shipped From Australia cheaper ;)

A woman after my own heart, can't stand the pink and frilly types. Regards a series 1: I keep my eyes open...
