Has anyone got any advice on the glue/adhesive to use to stick carpet to the under side of a truckcab, seems to come away when there's a bit of damp in the air. Cheers
 
Don't bother with the spray contact adhesive sold by Wilko. My anti-fatigue mats keep coming off. Look for a better spray adhesive - and let me know what it is when you find it.
 
High temperature contact adhesive is a must.
I have tried the Wilko spray and it turns back to mush in a few days.

I do use the brush on type for the first layer of anything on the inside of the car as it knocks the socks off the spray but the spray is more than adequate for following layers.

You will get condensation if you simply line the ceiling with a single layer of carpet or felt direct to the metalwork. Far better to fit 10 to 15 mm eva foam followed by your chosen finish.

I went with 10mm of EVA glued direct to the paintwork/metalwork followed by 6mm upholstery scrim foam spray glued to that. This gave me a fine finish to then spray glue a head lining vinyl on top.

The EVA reduces noise and insulates against condensation, the soft scrim foam absorbs noise from the inside (makes a huge difference) and the suede type vinyl protects the foam.

Makes a huge difference to noise.

Ebay is full of high temp spray adhesive but the obvious cheap ones are usually copies.
I use one of the sellers called diy upholstery supplies or something like that and have had no issues.

Look for lighter weigh carpet that wont try and fall down so easy.

It was win win win for me...quieter warmer drier.

It’s not the moisture you can see. It’s the stuff that appears between the bodywork and carpet that loosens the bond.
Probably why original head linings have an air gap behind them. Not that that stops much on a trattor:D

Depends what you want out of it I suppose. I went overly posh on mine to see just how far I could reduce noise but most van converters slap on a layer of felt liner and have done with it. Works for them and they sleep in theirs. Not sure how they smell after a year or two of damp walls mind. :D

This is what i used and seems to of stuck like mad, but i havent yet fitted cab

My hard top has spent the last 10+ years in the garden one I went soft top...its been under cover but the carpet it still stuck fast...had to move it a few months ago...I was looking at it and thought how clean the carpet still looked.
