Right, i'm sick of turning on my 4 roof spots and feeling like i'm on stage at the Hammersmith Odeon. I can actually see less than normal dipped beam. I've read the various threads on sticking stuff to the wings etc but don't want to go down that route...so...anyone tried these?

X-eng High Performance Off-Road Engineering

At £30 a pop they're a bit pricey but look effective...

Or are there other types available for reasonable xmas money?

I was looking at these recently, they are good but I am going to wait a while as there are a new generation of LED lights coming onto the market (check ebay) which are going to be far superior to the current halogen lamps. X-Eng are looking into this as well but they say they will not be available for probably another 12 months as they wait for the technology to improve.
 
Hahahaha, I liked this on the description where to use the "flood" type lights

Yes, but at what cost?

The main 4x4 light manufacturers (PIAA, Lightforce, Warn, IPF) have allready produced LED lights but the cost is excessive compared with their equivilent HID, halogen counterparts.

you will be waiting a long long time before they become affordable.

I like those X eng lights, the recess is a very good idea.... but its just another area for mud to stay one as it wont be able to slide off...

hope the area is also well waterproofed as you'd need to direct a water jet there to clean the mud
 
problem with the xeng lites is they used standard 12v household bulbs and they just don't stand up to the vibrations and bumps. and for what they are. the price is way OTT!
 
Ok..Good idea Bob, but at $700 each i'll pass on the bicycle lights :eek:

Seeing as i've got all the wiring already in place on the roof i'm now thinking of making my own that fit to the light-bar. Going to have a hunt round and see if theres anything like an led hand torch that i can then fashion the back so that it clamps onto the bar just as the x-lites do..

I'm thinking heavy duty rubber torches to lessen vibration, plus they will screw off quite easily to wash/change bulb....
