gonna have to take off the whole hub i guess.. so i can get more violent.. aaargh,,,

lookin at swivel ball its a bit pitted so i'm gonna change that at same time...

buster makes it look easy but i bet it aint gonna be...

did you use a 6 point socket instead of a 12 point?
 
Managed to undo the rest of the bolts holding the tub on and disconnected the wiring to the tub and also the fuel hoses. Removed the tub and quite happy with the condition of the chassis. I wire brushed the flaking paint and mud off and looks like it only needs a tank outrigger. This is its 2nd resto' as the rear 1/4 chassis and another outrigger has been done before and are still good. Brake pipes look okay but I will probably completely renew them. Here are some photos of the chassis before and after the rub down. I also drained the fuel tank.

Fitted a new steering wheel with snap off boss kit! i need to sell my original steering wheel now but not sure how to access the selling area?

when you use 12 point wrenches or sockets on old and rusty bolts/nuts you will round the heads. Use 6 point tools and that won't happen
 
well as cant do the seal and the swivel ball pitted too... gonna take the lot off and rebuild.. or buy the full hub etc from scrappers and fit that if i can get for right price..

so today i replaced the rear body mounts.. i hate welding upside down!! i'm burnt all over, set myself on fire a few times... gotta buy a garage and a car lift!!
 
finally got around to fitting the air bypass pipe around the MAF sensor (suppose to fool the ECU into extra air flow)

Cleaned up and removed rust form sills then painted The buggers with zinc primer statin black top coat and under seal spraed a rust injurie in them after it dryed a dose of waxoil so it should last a week.
 
Apart from fun dragging a bit of timber round the woods (I love teaching :)) swopped over my spare wheel carrier and fitted my razor edge bonnet................looks so much better than the deluxe
