Damper bracket turned up this morning, 24 hours early,
Welded in place, and primed. While I was welding I noticed there was something going on on the axle, a little bubble of oil coming out of the axle on the joint, so cleaned up and ran a bead along the joint. Like most of my welding, not pretty, but it will do. Something that didn't help was the fact that I managed to catch the top of my ear in the hinge of my welding mask when I flipped it down. Good drop of claret lost in the course of events.
Left hand suspension replaced with new bushes, 1st top coat on new bracket. Hitch plate and brackets cleaned and primed.
At long last I feel I am making some headway. Seat box refurb in the next day or so.
