catalogued all of the service history invoices by numbering them and numbering the corresponding stamp in the service book - I should really get out more, I just can't help myself

Went out last night and fitted new crank position lead and replaced starter. Didn't start, so I swapped a few relays and it now starts OK. See how it lasts. Hope to do fuel injector seals this weekend.

Tried fitting a 16 inch alloy with a 245/75/16 BFG AT to my ES. The current 18 inch powder coated black hurricane alloys are fine for the road, but I want a second set of wheels for offroad/overlanding/winter with a bigger sidewall. Going from 29" to 30.5" will also give me a real lift of 0.75" without affecting the geometry or handling and a mild axle twister on ramps showed no sign of rubbing front or rear, incuding full lock. Given that at the moment I have standard bumpers and ground hugging sidesteps, I'm calling it a result.
I've already bought 4 more matching alloys and will fit 245/75/16 KO2s to them. When they wear out it is tempting to replace the 255/55/18 KO2s on the current wheels with more road biased rubber, but I don't want to have to change all 5 wheels everytime I green lane.
On the downside the bottom of the steering drop arm is definately wet. o_O

Just been to the LR stealer on the Island to order a genuine MAF .. £160
Why, well, I've tried the fleebay specials for £20, I've tried the VDO for £70 and I've never been entirely convinced any of them have actually worked properly, even though the Nanocom reports the correct readings with the VDO one fitted.
Anyway, I've just done what I maybe should have done in the beginning.
If this genuine unit doesn't have any effect, then I need to get a new me because that's obviously where the problem lies. :D
Or, I could just find a 100% working Disco TD5 and give it a test drive so I've actually got something to compare mine to so I can stop imagining things. ;)

So, does it make a difference?

Cheers

Drove my D2 to go & buy another D1 so now that makes my total to 4 landys o_O :D
Then replaced my osf wheel bearing tonight so that took an hour :)

Sold the white D1 to my mate round the corner, he and his wife were over the moon.

Now I’ve got room for the new D2 truck to go on the drive, I’ll move it off the front flower bed later.

Picked up the new MAF from the stealer, but I'm stuck in work for the rest of the afternoon, so I'll fit it tonight.
I hope this one makes a difference, or has a huge positive psychological effect in order to justify the cost!

£160 Genuine Land Rover MAF has now been fitted... was it worth the money? Was it any better than the £70 VDO MAF it replaced? o_O
I'll tell you in about 30 minutes after I've given it a test drive... :p

Test drive complete.

1. Was there any difference between the VDO MAF and genuine LR MAF? - I have to admit that there was a positive improvement.
2. Was it better because I know I'd just installed the genuine unit? - Highly likely, but there no way to tell unless I do as Neilly suggested and do a blind test.
3. Was it worth the extra £90 over the VDO unit? - I have to honestly say no
4. Am I angry and disappointed that the difference wasn't as much as I thought? - No, not at all. I had a mental itch because I knew I wasn't using the genuine unit, and I had to try it in order to scratch the itch.

Conclusion - It's certainly no worse than the VDO unit and my advice to anyone who is considering whether it's worth buying the genuine LR MAF over the VDO one would be to save the £90 and get the VDO because the difference just isn't worth the extra cost. :)
