I have a Mr. Bump in the window... doesn't take much to work it out from there! Though car stickers are dirt cheap, could easily get some made up...

I wish I could go back in time and not get involved in this bollocks thread. Have you thought about maybe getting a bit of perspex and some PVA and sparkles and seashells and making a little name plate? and if you get the perspex a little bigger than you need, you can cut a little off, stick a safety pin on the back and have a little name badge too. BBBBBOOOOOONNNNNUUUUUUSSSSSSS

ok... a piece of cardboard and marker pen would work... i'll give ya that... it's just shame all the letters and all the fonts you can put on a license plate are the same size!

and G-man - are you saying that putting multiple license plates, each saying something different, on a car built before 2001 is perfectly legal?!?

no i am saying you can have what the **** you like written on the bottom of the plate! also i'm pretty sure you could have boarders and 3d writing

the licence plate rules changed in 2001 with the introduction of the new style plates

i can't find the specific legislation but pre 2001 vehicles (vehicles with the old style plates don't have to conform to the current standard.... but they must still conform to the old standard so personalised lettering at the bottom and boarders no silly italic writing etc though

That'll teach ye;):p:D:D

you're a funny guy, Elwood.

I want these plates because I spend a lot of time (whole weekends) at various events taking photos, shooting video and publishing the whole lot online. Now I have the Land Rover, I'm starting to attend many Land Rover & off road type events too.

While at these events, many people ask me how they can find my photos and videos. I either tell them my name only to meet up with them at another events only to find they forgot it after 10 minutes, or I give them my username and say "google it". The number of times I tell people my username is ridiculous.

Plus, how many other people are there that would love to know, but don't ask for whatever reason.

Having it written on a name plate of sorts doesn't seem so ridiculous to me.

Anyway............ no hard feelings, just trying to explain why I want my vehicle labelled!

So anyway... you can have whatever you like on a license plate... just not from that eBay company, it seems!

just display a trucker style plate in yer screen

why dont yajust print one, laminate it and attach it with rubber bands to yr sunvisor so ya can display it just by flippin down yr sunvisor..
or just get out of yr bloody car and talk to people!!!!!!

Well, you'd think so.

However, I went to one today and they said "no - If you're caught using it on the road, you'll be in trouble and so will we"!

I'm sure there are places that don't care, but everywhere I've ever got a plate from has asked for my V5!

I bought my normal plates from here:

MoT Compliant Number Plates GB EURO - Free Postage on eBay (end time 06-Jan-11 01:20:29 GMT)

But just google 'show plates' and you can design your own to say what you like where you like it

unless its a "display" plate - it has to , by law, now have to have the makers name and post code in the middle at the bottom and AU*** printed on the btm rhs to show it conforms with latest legal requirements.
If it is a "Display" plate , yu can get pulled by the fuzz  and if its illegal the maker will get done as well.

Ah've got BUSTER written on the bottom o' mine and haven't been pulled by any coppers from Lands end tae John o' groats, Isle o' Skye tae Berwick and France yet;):D
you think coppers are that vigilant to look at the bottom of yr plates:rolleyes:

having emblems other than a country of origin on the sides of the plates is what they will get ya for so having 2 rats on yr plate is only a matter of time.

ive had solar sound roadshow on my trailer plates at the bottom for over 6 years

i do talk to people... lots of people. read my reply to Elwood!

I can see i've opened a can of worms here.

now then, ye say ye talk to lots o' folks... do ye actually go walk abouts and meet thum or do ye stand by yer motor hoping somebody will come and speak to you??
If it's the furst one, why the hell do ye need to display yer name on yer motor fur??? If ye ain't in it or standing beside it then ye could be anybody... wear a badge instead!:rolleyes::rolleyes:;)
Even better, print out some business cards and pass them on.
