username/nickname on a sign/sticker/reg plate

how bout THIS for an idea.........get a big sponge and cut into the shape of a fish.....dangle it from an appropriate appendige.....THEN..... only people that know who you are, will know who you are.....if you get my drift:confused:

Used to have US size pressed metal plates on my cherokee. Got pulled a couple of times, so took the back one off and put my other dodgy one on the back. piccy of a almost naked woman and "its only perverted the first time" under never had trouble with that
 
have had mine for about 18 months now not had a sniff of a pull from plod.
when i had my accident there were more filth crawling all over it (and a few writing the reg down and they never said a word :rolleyes:)
 
i don't generally stand by my vehicle waiting for people to come and talk to me... i wouldn't get many photos or much video stood next to it now, would i.

when off roading, obviously i'm in the car. unless I get out and photo or video something. at that point, I may or may not be near the car.

At other events, my car tends to stay in one place while I wander around all day. Unless i'm in the caravan next to it, of course. A lot of people tend to know me by sight at these events, but wouldn't know my name or how to find what i've been shooting if you know what i mean.

and finally, if I ever take part in any land rover specific events (convoy for heroes, perhaps), i thought it might be good to put a name to a face! I'm "fishsponge" everywhere on the web. it's a random word, so not used often. If people see it written across my vehicle and have spoken to me online, they might come and say hello.

The idea might work, it might not. I can't see any reason not to though!

I'm sure I still haven't justified it well enough though... the people that understand, understand and the people that don't, don't.
 
me and my mate made up a word once while we were tripping, you can't even write it down, but I'll try and explain it, $pacefish the $ represents a kind of backwards s, you have to kind of suck it in, and the $pacefish was basically the result of human evolution over millions of years of living in space, our limbs would become stumpy and useless as we wouldn't need to fight gravity and we would become bloated with the vacuum. $pacefish. Next Time- "antmouth man"

anyway, off topic.

even if you wouldn't do it, and even if a lot of people wouldn't do it, i'm sure there are people out there who have their username and/or nickname stuck somewhere on the front of their Landy! and i'm sure not all of them are idiots.

some of you out there must agree. surely! :D

If it is a "Display" plate , yu can get pulled by the fuzz :eek: and if its illegal the maker will get done as well.

Has to have the SUPPLIERS name and post code not the manufacturers
 
cant be bothered to read everything i missed but you can get classic plates off the interweb....no docs....no dealer....sold as show plates and legal on an age appropriate vehicle......prob been said but I'm feeling lazy :5bsifone:
 
no worries... thanks for the info.

it was basically the term "show plates" i hadn't heard of before, so my searches were bring up very little.

as for old plates, that might be good to know as my old motorcycle arguably has the wrong type of plate on it anyway. Having said that, i do have the V5 for that, but getting old plates may be tricky these days. Never tried, to be honest!
 
Do you work at halfords?? The way i understand it is (i am a registered no. plate suppier) the people i buy my no. plates from have my details and my official supplier no. from i think DVLA, they put that reg no. and the plate i purchased front/rear or both down to my supplier no. when the customer comes to collect the car or just the plates it's my legal responsibility to get the relevent details from them, and keep it for for i think 3 years. G-MAN should be able to confirm this, i hope im right cos ive been doing like this for ages, i'll have to get the paper work out and check tomorrow.
