Looked on the maps at the lane in Denaby, it turns into a footpath after Denaby Wood, going towards Conisbrough(Conanby), so I'd be careful and check it on Def. Map first.
However ... If you fancy a day out in New Year, and most of you seem to come from Rotherham-ish area, how about the following ...
Jan 11th 2009, start near J31 M18. I've been out and done a few lanes round Maltby, North and South and can link them in via a couple of other lanes to the Bawtry ones I know and we could make a reasonable day of it. I'd estimate about 60+ miles of driving, mostly back roads but obviously a couple of A roads, with maybe 12+ miles of lanes. Would take about 4/5 hours, depends on comfort breaks etc Most of the lanes are dead easy, even if very wet and muddy. One of them could be a bit scratchy, but my Disco's a bit scratchy anyway ...
Nothing to really get stuck in, even on road tyres (I have BFG AT's) and nothing much to damage anything. Couple of places are tight, but I got through with room to spare. I'd say a Freelander could do them all, BUT ... you'd also get to see some really nice bits of the area you don't normally see, which makes up for the polishing needed afterwards. We also go past Roche Abbey, on the road mind, so even the road bits are reasonably interesting and mostly small, twisty etc though there are inevitably a couple of A road bits ... can't be helped round here !
There's a natural (almost) midway point in Tickhill by the DuckPond where we could stop for a sandwich, flask o' tea etc.
If anyone's up for it PM me, and I'll sort a proper route out on Memory Map, instead of my usual meandering about, maybe start a separate thread?
