We are seeing a lot of motorcycles being stolen with the security overcome in this way. Some freezing agent used to freeze water pipes is poured onto the device and it goes brittle, smash with hammer and away you go.I seem to remember reading somewhere that a flask of Liquid ice poured over anti theft device applied then hit with a hammer would shattter the device
As for devices which would cause harm to a would be thief then I am sure they are fine, legally, provided you place a warning notice ie danger of death, guard dog inside, etc. then it's their choice. Bastids.
I have a van security door lock fitted to my 90. Doesn't look great but it's an off roader so who cares. eBay 160663018538 if you're interested.
