Polybushes - are they any good

Neil noticed last night that my Landy needs some new bushes on the front of the radius arm. He suggested it might be worth getting polybushes.

Today I rang Adventure 4x4 to order some to collect tomorrow. They said if my Landy gets some abuse :eek: I would be better with the standard Landy ones as they are tougher.

When I reported this to Neil tonight he suggested I ask on here.

Anyone have an opinion please :D
 
Standard bushes last 10 - 20 years.
Polybushes are a bodger's easy fix and last 10 - 20 months.

It's a no brainer for me, but then I do have a press.
 
Interesting reading, they market these polybushes as if they are indestructable and a must have.
 
So they are easier to fit and OK if I buy genuine ones not Britpart. Who makes the genuine ones?

Britpart sell both Genuine and pattern bushes.
The genuine ones have a G on the end of the part number.
Available from Paddocks, but you have to ask for G Suffix.

personally ive fitted a lot of the yellow britpart ones and cant say ive had much trouble , one kit came with poor bushes but they changed it and its been on for a few years now as has the other landies ,i normally fit poly unless someone states other wise
 
Before I fitted mine I did some reading up, not only for landys but anything that came up in a google search. Seems that there's a few tricks to fitting them so they last, such as using washing up liquid where the bush contacts the suspension arm and the metal collar that goes through the centre, as this does not dry out like grease does which can cause premature failure. There are also brand specific tricks, such as with mine (Deflex) you need to remove 5mm off one half of the bush inside the arm so they sit right.

Thats because it won't get time to dry out as the first time you go through any water it will wash it out for you unless your using fairy then it may last 2 or 3 times longer:)

superpro on mine, no complaints so far. they have a 36K warrenty too IIRC. only my Aframe doesnt have em, and its getting toward needing them,
theyre in the shed somwhere...
 
Another vote for Superpro. I fitted these to my Defender in the autumn and I'll be interested to see how long they last. They're about three times the price of Britpart yellow kits but, as above, they are supposed to last better. You get tiny sachets of their special grease to put them in with too.
