If it stays at 0.5 volts, as others have said, the first check would be a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine block.I got almost nothing, 0.5v
I'm charging the new battery which is at 13.1v at the minute, so I'll whip it off charge and back into the car and double check it!
If that sorts it, the look for the earth strap from the engine to the chassis and the battery negative connection to the chassis.
If it makes no difference, it will be time to look for the starter relay, the owners handbook should help locate it.
