Hate to say this but I think IVA superseded SVA, at least it has done in the kit car world. So this paperwork may be a teeny weeny bit out of date.
look at my link which is bang up to date as I got it by going to gov.uk and searching on there.First few pages say its for vehicles less than ten years old, and is for light goods vehicles, which mine will be neither of? So dont I need IVA?
Yes, SVA as we knew it has gone, it is now IVA

have a good read of it as as soon as you start to modify a vehicle it becomes extremely important.
Basically you cannot alter a chassis or a monocoque body without needing to pass IVA.
Passing IVA deffo is not impossible, kit car builders all do it, unless they build on an existing chassis.

Or is it like trying to stick lego to k-nex?
Im allowed to move the body mount on the body, but not the chassis, correct? So if the body mounts are in the same place (or near enough) then its not a problem

Thanks all for the responses. If I can, Im trying to avoid the IVA, due to all the costs and time and so on. The ambulance isnt entirely off the cards yet, as it looks like a very good place to start (LWB chassis, discovery body, already compliant etc)
If I do have to IVA something, Im not too concerned, since all the little annoyances are already done, all the seatbelt mounts and mirrors and lights and so on, although if I do have to go the IVA route, I think the cheapest, easiest way to do it is to extend the chassis, either by adding new metal or by using another rear half chassis
I would not be chopping up a motor like this.Well they only made 15 of them and only 1 is for sale, so I do need to sell mine quite sharpish if Im to buy the ambulance.
Quick question, bobtails, they dont need IVA approval do they? And that involves moving the body mounts (all be it outside the wheelbase)
Also, body lifts - Im guessing now, but this is where metal is added as a.spacer between the chassis and the body? These dont need IVA either do they?
Buy a 130 defender and just have a truck cab.make a flat bed for the rear.Why not? Its cheap-ish, certainly cheaper than a defender, maybe marginally more expensive that 2 bucket-y discos, but certainly cheaper than getting anything IVA-worthy and then going through the whole process
