Okay - lets not be unreasonable, the disco needs more than "basic checks" - its had "basic checks" at 2 garages, and its had my mate and I at uni try and fix it, and now its time to do compression tests.
Fiddling with a fuel pump involves turning a few bolts/screws to adjust the fuelling, idle, and injection timing, its not complicated, and its very east yo reverse the changes. I cant un-break my disco, I didnt break it in the first place.
Dilettante means someone who is interested in something but has no commitment. Im not quite sure how owning 2 land rovers and spending thousands of pounds and dozens of hours on them is a lack of commitment. Lack of ability, sure. I darent work it out, but I bet if I did, Id find that Id have save 5-figures by not buying a land rover and sticking with my boring first car.
Ive been busy, Im juggling lots of things, a degree, a job, other hobbies, and other project cars. Quite understandably, fixing something that is so likely to break again anyway hasnt been a priority, especially when fixing it means Ive the privelage to spend and other 4-figure sum on tax and insurance to use said thing.
Well neither of the mechanics I took my disco to could fix it. Ive fixed my other cars plenty of times, infact I fixed the disco before too, when the fuel filter clogged and it wouldnt start - I figured that one out all by myself a few years ago.
This problem isnt a simple one, and actually there could well be more than just one problem, and I havnt the time, motivation, nor realistically the skills to be certain of fixing it, so pouring more of my time into it just isnt worth it.
Okay, so enough sh1tt1ng on me for not fixing my own car, like, well, most people, what are peoples opinions on the Fourtrak.
