This kid prob doenst wanna fix his car , so he can moan all he want on this forum.

a basic compression test , like 20 people bin asking is too hard for our 'honor' student.
damn i was fixing mopeds when i was 12 years old. even back then i could borrow a compression tester to test if the rings ar bad.
Just sell the damn cars for scrap and buy the diahatsu.

I thought the dying reflections of an old Buffalo might snap him out of his self pity, but just add that to the list of things I don't know.
I know that it's not my life being wasted, but damn it makes me angry to see someone so young have so little regard for the gift that is life. The hard parts are your source of strength.
I gotta be honest WSR, I thought your “words from a dying man” (#243) were very poignant, knowing your position, and would have made the guy sit up and think…

i dont know ur situation WSR, but not all youth is like this. im 'only' 32 but i work my ass off and love tinkering / learning new stuff daily. most people i know are like this 'c*nt , dont wanna work , expect everything handed to them , and moan and complain all the way.

I hate to say this and am very aware that you are a newbie who cannot possibly know the background to a lot of us.
Not everything is clear and cut and dried.
I will not say anything more except that it might be a bit of an idea to take a breath.
Maybe I should shut up as I have been pming both protagonists on this and understand where both are coming from.

I think is because the younger ones from late 20s to mid 30s whilst still young we get lumped in with the even younger generation. Exorcism is my generation where we are still young but work to the bone for our things and mistakenly get the millennials are the baddies where it's the younger gen like the op.

The fact of the matter is that forums like this cover a massively wide range of ages and experiences. I do know a few on here who are even older than me!
So expecting them/us to be on the same wavelength as 21 yr olds is a big ask.
TBH I'd totally hate to be 21 now in the world as it is. So I massively sympathise with all those in that situation. Things sure as feck are a lot harder for youngsters than they used to be. And I speak as one who has grandchildren older than 21 and as young as 13. I really feel for them.

Also some of us young folk do come on here to get advice from the err 
maturer generations
for advice as they have probably made the mistakes with less tech available to help so at least we have a good chance of learning to do stuff the easier way.

I think if he had his qualifications and a job he'd be in a better position to sort his Discos out. I'm retired and have two Disco 1s sitting on my drive in the UK awaiting my support since I retired, 9 years ago. So you'll understand why I sympathise with @LetsHopeItFits
I think he is being pulled this way and that and could do to sort out priorities. But apart from that and, as the French would say, the need for taking a few turns around his mouth with his tongue before opening it to speak, he should be OK. He certainly is bright enough and it would appear not too afraid of hard work. But needs to point himself, or get pointed in the right direction.

Thats one benefit op open uni, its much much cheaper, its "only" £2610 a year.
I helped many of my friends with their study, I also worked as a teachin assistant. Sure I suck at fixing unfixable broken land rovers, that doesnt mean I'm rubbish at everything.
Thats exactly where it was on page 1, its not getting power to the injectors, it is turning over, its not the immobiliser, and it is getting spark. Compression is a problem for later, at least until it coughs/splutters, which it wont do, because Im probably goig to let the breaker have them, then he can feed them into a crusher.
Tried to get one of those too, but I didnt get to sit proper A-levels (covid) and I wasnt the easiest student, so they decided to screw me over by one grade.
Not that I think you should spend your last dying days bickering with strangers on internet forums, but that really isnt the outlook Ive got on life. Its the outlook Ive got on my disco, its may even be the outlook Ive got on a few aspects of life over the next few years, Im not going to go into why, thats just how it is. Im not some dumb kid who doesnt know how the world works, its very clear, its just not going to be all sunshine and rainbows for the next few years for me. And anyone who has said anything to the effects of "life's hard" can now shut up if they like, because this bit of my life is probably going to be the hardest, at least for a few decades, or until I get drafted into WW3. And you, WSR, you cant tell me that looking back, it was all great, nor can you tell me it was all hard. I know nothing about you, but I know there were good bits and bad bits, and thats true for pretty much every adult on the planet.
Everyone loves learning new stuff, everyone loves gainful tinkering, none of us like wasting dozens of hours trying to fix something and then have it still be broken, none of us are special. Not sure what part of me starting a new job (i.e, working) whilst doing a degree implies that I dont want to work? And if you want something handed to you, I'll hand you your arse in a boxing ring, because guess what, we all work hard at something.

I wouldnt want to be the judge on "whos got it worse" - but I think its definately easy to say that the challanges are different in many ways, even if the end goal is similar. The world has changed quite a bit, and its going to change even more quickly over the coming years, as technology continues to advance. Im sure when some of you were my age, blue LEDs hadnt even been invented yet, now I can get a robot to draw me a picture of a frog eating the moon if I so desire. On the other hand, all you lot who brag about buying houses in your mid 20s, Ill be 26 in 5 years time, by which current predictions put the average house price at over £360,000. Ohh, and by then social services will take your kids away from you if they play with the wrong toys in nursery and you refuse to let them be mutilated by psycopaths, because they obviously are a different gender.
Realistically though, the board has shifted a lot. When my parents went to uni, only 10% of people who did O-levels/GCSEs went to uni, now its 50%. That means 2 things - firstly, there are far more cack degrees now than there were before, and secondly, the routes into the "other jobs" which require skills arent as easy to get into if you didnt go to college (which is the alternative to doing A-levels post-GCSE) and unsupprisingly, both options are now more expensive (unless you go to college straight away).
I highly doubt anyone will, but if we look back on this in 5 years time, I reckon even more people will be getting cack degrees in uni, unless sir kier radically changes things anytime soon. I also think Ill be laughing at myself, because itll all have worked out.
… You’ll still be on here asking for help to fix your disco’s, then ignoring it and bitching about everything else.
