looks straight forward provided the outside one turns off ok, thats the sort of job that would be £80 all in, as turktowner said above its a straight swap standard stop cock undo the the two nuts remove put a bit of ptfe tape round the olive on the pipe and fit the new whats the worst that can happen :vb-biggrin:

Its not just the time and part. Travel tine, costing of running a business and van. His/her wage. All adds up.

Have turn water off at stopcock outside or freeze the pipes with that spray stuff
Changing tap will take less than 5 mins though

This is only the second time in my life I have called a plumber in to do a job, the last time being when the stop-cock again was playing up. Just not so keen when it involves turning it off at the mains. Bit chicken I suppose. Had a problem even turning it off back when I lived in Poole.
But I have replaced and moved rads around, taken ones out, extended the heating into the garage, plumbed in all sorts of stuff and done ALL the plumbing in the place in France.
And there I disconnected the mains at the meter and put a garden hose on it cos the builders' plumber had left bare pipes sticking out of the floors and walls.
Have to say reconnecting it to the house was a total member of barstaff and I wouldn't do it again.
So I am not quite a walking disaster.

I tell you these tales to give you a laugh is all. Maybe I should only boast about my successes! 🤣🤣🤣

Well, that is the oil and filter change done on the Pluriel.
No probs at all, except for draining all the oil then kicking the basin over on the gravel drive so I lost the sump plug,
Stripping the thread on the filter holder, which was the wrong size anyway, then topping it up without remembering to put a plug back in first!






Now you KNOW I'm joking!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well we now have an estimate of a fair price from @brianp38dse so my quote has the Ferndown Factor added. Which I doubt I'll get around.
I also asked for a quote for fitting a Surestop but both of them say it'll have to be fixed above the existing one, which would be problematic due to the layout of the pipework so that one is on the back burner for the mo. I guess the Surestop isn't designed with a NRV fitted. humph design fault methinks.
Maybe I'll design one and patent it.
Silly beggars for not adding that.

It's like the impulse generator in pneumatics. Enots invented one and it was so obvious and honestly a lot like a differential pressure stopcock in many ways. Yet none of our competitors at the time had one in their range. Made my life easy!
Things have prolly changed though since 1976!!

Thanks very much for this. Now I know that the difference in price is prolly due to where we live as much as anything else!
