Luckily I sold my Yeti last weekend
My motorbike has a duff gearbox so that can be handed over as being worth quite a bit
Van is sold as well, all before I got the letter so I have very little at the moment :)
I know I'll be skint after all this, worked so hard for it over the past ten years as well , hey ho
Don't give up hope. If I knew more about the ins and outs of the case I could give you more advice.
But she isn't entitled to more than her fair share.
Do do tons of research.
I remember being more or less where you are, looking forward, if that is the term, to being in a position where I'd have to downsize massively or move to another part of the country to be able to afford a house more like the one one we were in when she left. So I massively sympathise.
If you can hide your cash anywhere, where the courts can't easily find it, if for instance she doesn't know what capital assets you have flooged off, then you might be onto a winner, but that is basically illegal.
And of course if you have a pension coming nowadays the ex, or soon to be ex, will want a cut of that too.
Life can be really poop where divorces are concerned.
Do, seriously, do a lot of research and delay like mad until you know exactly what is what. Also the longer you put things off the more desperate she'll get and the more likely she will be to be "reasonable".
Do you know what precipitated all this?
If she is being unreasonable do not be too frightened that the courts will take her side. More and more, recently, they are being realistic and seeing money grabbing people for exactly that. W and I have friends where the court saw things very fairly from the man's point of view and awarded accordingly.

Nope it’s the V6 that’s the problem D3/4.
I don’t know much tbh, but enough that I wouldn’t like to risk my money.

Well busy day!
Got up ridiculously early to go shopping. 7 a.m. I am still recovering.
Got to the market to find the cheese man was on holiday, so the long queue at his stall wasn't going to happen.
So bought other bits and bobs, ditto at the supermarket, and the hen feed place then went to our Dutch friends for our normal meet, coffee, chat and hand over of eggs and other produce. Rang the bell, no answer. We both decided that that was because they themselves were still shopping so waited, reading the papers. Eventually the wife showed up, turned out the husband had hurt his back and was in the house in bed all the time! Poor sod! Turns out also that she had ahad Covid so it seems likely that when we were down a while back we likely both caught it off her!
Still eventually got back to our place and worked like mad to tidy the place up before the peeps who are going to borrow the land turned up. They did, they enjoyed the coffee and cake, left us a couple of prezzies and we went off to survey the land. They are dead serious which is brill. They even showed me a "devis" for the insurance that they will be taking out on it/the horses. (turns out there will be two which makes massive sense as one on its own would get lonely.) Met the daughter who is lovely. Superb chat and vibe so everything is moving forward very smoothly.
Our neebs at home in the UK are kicking off about our CCTV camera. They had a go at dottir when she went over there. They really are a pile of poop.
Had yet another look into it and it is hilarious. No one can bother you about CCTV if you don't record anything, which we don't. So I will be contacting the plod who has already been involved in the case where the wife of said couple has been harassing both us and the opposite neigbours, who have since moved out.
The contrast between the basically brill neighbours that we have in Frogland and the poop ones we have in the UK, now the decent ones have moved out... Although our immediate neighbours in F land have a bit of ground to make up!
"Good fences make good neighbours"
So enjoy the sleep folks!

We've been married 55 years and apart for 10
It's my son trying to get the house off us, he's manipulating her
She was quite happy living in the big house we both bought for cash in 1985 and me in my bungalow.
It's not going to end well for either of us I'm afraid :(
