As Dips said Tudors are more or less just that!
I'd have one, they are good, but I'd never pay for the name with a Rolex. A good mate of mine, a dentist, had a Rolex he said it was terrible, never kept good time even though he kept taking it in to be fixed.
TBH, with a wind-up or auto, the more jewels the better 21 being ideal.
But there are loads of good makes out there that aren't too pricey...
Omega, Citizen, etc etc.
I'll shut up before I get too boring!!

Other than to say that I did once meet the late great George Daniels, by chance waiting for a cross channel ferry. He had an Itala and with a lot of other peeps was preapring to go to the Le Mans for veterans. It had to be towed and he had two torches taped to the mudguards for headlights. I chatted to him about it and cars in general, taking the P slightly which he took in good humour.

As I walked away another bloke from the group came up to me and said, "Do you know who you've been talking to?" "No" says I, so he explained.
"Check this: considered the greatest horologist of all time by many, the late Dr George Daniels, creator of the coaxial escapement (sold to Omega for a fortune to become their signature movement technology) was British."
He also made watches that operated on solar time one at least of which was taken either into space or to the moon.

Well, as it won't be worth anything I'll hang onto it and wait and see exactly what it will be able to do, it seems that "4G calling" and "4G internet" will be out of the window, so we'll just have to see.
But this is what I am presented with every time I check up what my phone can do.

so it "says" no 4g calling either in the UK or abroad. Being ignorant I assumed that meant I couldn't "make a call" on 4G with it, although it has 4G on it.
This is typical of the way tech comapnies treat ignoramuses like me.
So I googled "what is 4G calling" and got this "4G Calling means that when you make or receive a phone call, your phone will stay on 4G so your internet doesn't slow down. That means you can use data at 4G speeds even when you're on a call. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how few mobile providers will let you do this."
And TBH I don't give a monkeys about my internet not slowing down when I am on a call. I hardly ever make calls anyway. All my friends and family are on "whatsapp".
So I checked and got this

Alky free stuff has certainly come along of late. Early AF beers made me feel bloated and gave me a headache (the irony), you can hardly tell the difference any more. The price of these alternatives doesn't provide much of an incentive though (should one be required?), as has been noted. The gin you've highlighted is at a good price though, have placed an order.

I think it is doing us all good to air our attitudes to the demon drink.
I am grateful that I don't "have" to drink, and don't think about when I can have one, I just look forward to one, which isn't the same thing. And like I think both of you I do not drink for effect at all, just enjoy the taste.
But I too do not have a relatively easy "off switch" and would just carry on drinking of an evening if it wasn't for me consciously saying to myself "You shouldn't, it isn't good for you, you'll get a headache." which I didn't even have as a much younger man. So that eventually switches my drinking off.
I think what limited me when I was younger was lack of money (!) and usually doing it somewhere from which I had to drive home, i.e. pubs and clubs. (Tight old/young Stan would never pay for a taxi!) So the breathalyser slowed my drinking down a lot.

So, just to put this to bed as it were I looked up "whether you have a problem or not" and found these symptoms.

The ticks and crosses are just my personal situation but I put the list up for others who may not want to go public with their feelings.

Afternoon folks:).

Just back from local eatery (stuffed)its great to be able to sit outside and eat again, and the owners stuffed some "damashner torter" that's phonetic. but it means we have 2 portions of homemade cake for free tonight, along with the takeaway salad, good job we have some iscream in the freezer :D.

Yer fone only connects to one type of signal at a time, 2, 3 or 4g. Calls on 4g can carry more voice data so the call sound can be betterer. Depends on the service used at t'other end anorl. Yer internet will be forced to the same G as yer current call. Thats what they're saying. Nowt to worry about. 2g will be around for a long time which will still provide calls. If yer on wots app then it dun't matter. Eye stay away from eye'fones and anyfink apple. They tend to try to lock yer in to appleness.

I get that entirely and don't often wear one now, after a career where what I did I had to time to within minutes most of the day.
(The attention span of the average kid being one stage less than that of a gnat on Ecstasy). Then It was good to have a good one and one with a stop watch facility.
I like to have one by my bed so I know at what time the dogs have woken me up, can't stand using a phone for this. Also it is nice to have a range to choose from when I go out.
But the skill involved in making an accurate mechanism that can be as small as it will fit on a lady's ring, is amazing. Respect!

Didnt manage to get any concrete poured as we had a wee bit of levelling to do & fit the foam for the expansion gap
plus we forgot about the big concrete float from the hire shop. Have put it off until sataday but its all ready to go & he's
left his old tractor tis an old German air cooled thing, I'll see if I can get some pics )I'll use the misses fone. :)
