We all went out to lunch today, twas very nice, then our guests went off to visit a nephew and his dottir in Castres. So we had a bit of time off! W did a szoom with her european ex-guiders group. The Trefoil guild.
Had a bit of a lie down this arvo then got up, fed and watered the hens, watered the polytunnel and the veg garding, then did all the hand washing up.

(Don't tell her but I am sort of showing W that it IS possible to stay on top of the washing and the hand washing up. She may just be getting an inkling!) Shhh! Not that I really give a monkey's but it is always good to prove to her that blokeys are just as capable with brooms as spanners!

So quiet evening, I am sitting here sipping a large icy Ricard and nattering with you lot!

Initial research indicates cartridges are available for about 150 sovs, but unknown brand (advertisers are cagey on this). A reconditioned turbo with a new cartridge is about 300 - 400 sovs, again unknown quality. Brand new Garret complete, as per original fitment, can be got for about a grand, usual well known suppliers. Same item from JLR - 2500 sovs :eek:. I want a NEW one. But not from JLR -----

Lordy lordy. The price of that has got to be about the value of the Disco!
I'd start a thread asking for advice on this.
My attitude would be to go for a cartridge but then I am nt lookimng at the internals of yours.
Or even a secondhand one.

Its not an item I want to scrimp and scrape on, too much effort if a second hand one fails or an unknown quality item is fitted and fails. And as I have to work on my driveway, I could end up having to repair in winter. Price of a new one includes the electronic stepper motor for the variable vane part. (no waste gate on these).

Don't know much about these motors but variable vane sound the cool way to go. some peeps put them into Discos 1 and 2.

Was out for a drive with 'er indoors last weekend, we both agreed that a classic mini like the one we had in the 80's would make a great second car. Or an MG - midget or B. We both think the mini was the one car we should never have sold. Its probably the driver input that's needed in a defender that makes driving such fun and enjoyable, so like a car from back then.

I thought that, so got one a 1000 City E then souped it up with an MG Metro engine and box. Went like poop off a polished shovel.
But in the en , the flipping thing still rusted, it was noisy and surprisingly not v economical on short runs, like 8 miles each way to work and back! And not comfortable even with an excrutiatingly expensive after market seat. (which I have hung onto.) And they ain't cheap any more. I sold mine as an absolute wreck for £200 less than I had paid for it years before. (I got given the MG metro free.)
So I'd go for the B althought Mini did bring back massive memories of my yoof!!!

You can laugh as much as you like! Knowing how her life went foobar after she and I split and working with her until I was bout 55 I had the last laugh.
She was woman who was fantastic at her job but totally rubbish at a personal or financial life.
I just hope she is happy now living in Arras with her Frog husband on not much dosh.


And she was heavier than she looked! Figure like Raquel Welch but a bit meatier on the thighs!!!;) 🤣 🤣 🤣

Classic mini was my first motor HMS 201S cracking wee motor my mate has one & theres another one round here with a
supercharger in it. :cool:
