Damn! You didn’t hang around. Just a couple of tips, because they don’t rumble when you drive, you can forget they are there, drive slow, as with chains, and when you get back to black top, remove them. They will stand up to short sections of tarmac between the snow and ice but not prolonged sections at speed.

Like chains, they are tough but not indestructible. However, unlike chains, you chuck them in the boot and leave them there all year.

Yes, understand. I had a good read before I bought them and do not think I would be tempted to forget them because of the location I am in. Many thanks for your recommendation. I even added LZ as the place I learned about them from!

It's easier to buy a few bags of rock salt from the farm shop and keep some up the top of the lane where you are ...
I do know what you mean but the problem is not up by me it is further along the lane when the descent into civilisation starts! We do keep road salt for our own use but I do not want to be driving along and having to keep stopping to distribute salt/grit onto the lane. I can just imagine the claims against me I would get it from some ejit said it was my fault they skidded.:(

Ah, it appears you need a modification of sorts ... pull string to drop road salt portion ... sort of thing .... @Bobsticle sounds like it's idea time ...
