Delivered a few people to destinations. Now local hgv drivers refusing to work.

Am board of reports of peeps gettin stuck int snow. Int it about time peeps took advise from the highways agency who ses dun't travel unless nesersary int areas where they know there be a lot of snow. Twunts stuck ont moors as they take a daily short cut and too daft to realise the risk er gettin stuck. Puttin strain ont emergency services at peek difficultness.
 
And and and later wheel av trucks ont motorway stuck ont TV. Appens every year. Ses int rules when yer learning not to go out if conditions are such that yer can't be sure yer can complete yer trip. The fekers go out int snow an get stuck. Wot does they eggspect.

Be different this year. Am not towing them out anymore. They can sit there int cold smellin er pee.

Tis amazing. Most peeps would welcome few days oft wurk. When it snows yer wurk from ome if yer can or pretend to make up the time at a later date.

Eye think society needs to put up with occasional wheather events like snow an deal with it. Tis only fer a few days.

Wurk should acknowledge the travel problems an be more reasonable about it. The risk of yer hurtin yerself int snow could put yer oft wurk fer a lot longer.
 
You're right. It's called being a responsible employer, which should be applauded in this day and age.
Same goes with illness, you shouldn't be penalised for taking a couple of days off or working from home when you're sick, rather than taking half the department down with you and reducing overall productivity

Funny innit, how the good old BBC can hire helicopter (at great expense to us!) so that they can show us where the idiots are 'stuck' due to their own stupidity and/or lack of foul weather driving experience!
If/when it arrives here, once again we will be on call to support the blue light lads and lasses, even if it is just to ferry them to the hospitals.
 
I always carry a shovel in the boot from December to March, did same when I was driving wagons, got me out of trouble many a time, my dad always carried a small tin with half a candle, matches and some chocolate, he said it would save your life if stuck in cab in snow with no heat. What happened to the grit boxes at the side of the road on hills? maybe truckers too delicate these days to get out of their cabs and shovel snow
 
Eye think the modern day trucker is much softer and more worried about breaking a nail compared to truckers from years ago. Also counting the overtime hours while stuck with the fool burning eater running.

Every man for himself these days, years ago all the peeps from behind the first vehicle stuck would go and help get it moving, then the next one and so on till they were all sorted, the snow wasn't that bad it's just the wide tyres on modern vehicles that cant get traction in snow, few blokes with shovels would have everything moving and they would all be warm and have a laugh
 
I must say I am a bit disappointed (said very quietly so the snow gods don’t hear me) we have have sunshine all day and have only just kicked the ember in the fire.

How much snow stops your trains? Surely you guys haven't gotten that much snow
