None whatsover!
Odear should get a vhf radio set & give one to a pal or neighbour.
None whatsover!
My best friend lay dead on his boat for 4 days.
I had to get the police to go look.
Thanks for that Stan, no it was a bit distressing and I still miss the old devil and his ready wit and repartee.I know this isn't a competition but my dad lay dead in his place for two weeks, in a semi on an estate.
His neighbour had dementia although was just about managing to live on his own. He told us he heard a big thump coming from the house but didn't think about it much. Poor bloke.
And the other neighbours weren't on good terms with him so wouldn't have known. His drinking buddies thought he had just moved to another pub, which he sometimes did. In the end, the milkman who had just been changing his milk for another one every day, finally alerted the cops.
Keeping oneself to oneself has its downsides.
So it can happen almost anywhere.
sorry about your friend Dan, that can't have been easy.
Cheers @kevstarThats terrible so sorry cant liky that.
I know nothing about that system so will need to investigate. Much depends on where the satellites are in the sky as the hills around me block out so many signals - even my Sky only works properly sometimes depending on the season and the position of the sats.Wondering if you could get some form of satellite phone?
Cheers @kevstar
No vhf signals either!!Odear should get a vhf radio set & give one to a pal or neighbour.
Just checked, yes you could but it would cost and arm and a leg.Wondering if you could get some form of satellite phone?

This really is a very sparce neighbourhood consisting of a very few scattered houses and a handful of outlying farms.Just checked, yes you could but it would cost and arm and a leg.
CB radio with a neighbour, or is there not a neighbour who would be in range?

You should look at the other satellite services like starlink. It offers Web & IP telephony. This really is a very sparce neighbourhood consisting of a very few scattered houses and a handful of outlying farms.
The digital television reception for everyone in this area comes from Carmel (down near swansea) but I can't get it from there are the only solution was to have a high aerial post installed on the rear of the bungalow with an antenna pointing to pick up a signal, albeit a not very strong, from the Preseli Hills over in Pembrokeshire - hence us having to get a Sky system. I just seem to be hidden from all signals in all directions!
That is awful too. Such a daft way to go.
Tis said this was part of the reason they stopped the daily rum for the navy, according to an ex naval occifer I knew. Bottling your tot was against the rules so if a matelot was ever found drunk his mates would hide him in a locker or summat and what happened to your mate could then happen, said occifer told me they lost 2 or 3 every year down to this.
That sounds like swearing to me. I am going to have to do something though. You should look at the other satellite services like starlink. It offers Web & IP telephony.
(A black screen with a single tiny white dot.)O dear, a simple thing that you wouldnt think about is it.
Me neither! Talking of night skies - which we weren't, I have to say that is one of the spectacular sights over my bungalow - I get wonderful 'views, pity I don't know much about star gazing.(A black screen with a single tiny white dot.)
I don't think i got the picture properly.
