Dtd5 corrected me mistake so there's no need to make out your superior in some way and spotted it first. He's much betterer tratterer than you and sorted the problem without fuss. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/2594259-post10.htmlthat proves how very little knowledge you have of proper landrovers,us that have proper landrovers don't need to do a search on tinternet we have the knowledge to hand..
now carry on polishing yr paint work and pop bk to the Freelander section this section is way above your mechanical knowledge.

Our Freelander rear diff's have holes in them. The hole has a breather pipe fitted to it to stop the diff case pressurising as the oil inside gets hot, and therefore expands a little. The air inside also expands as it all heats up but at a faster rate. Having a hole means the pressure (air) can escape from the diff, and return when it all cools (pressure drops). Raising the breather pipe on a diff on a Freelander is done to stop water getting in the pipe if you intend to travel through water deeper than the wash, above the standard breather pipe. Simple solution is to raise the pipe higher with an extension pipe. The OP has a tratter with a rear diff. I wrongly assumed his/her diff had the same set-up as ours. Of course, you knew diffs had holes in didn't you. Easy mistake.I mean a diff has a hole in it ffs pmsl...they really are clueless these Freelanderers
We don't want you on this fred. We never asked you to join in and we don't need you to continue coming back.only cos u Freelanderers keep topping it up with stoopid comments
