Afternoon folks:).

It was big shop day for bulk stuff today, Saved nearly £20 by buying 5 of an item. So worked out at nearly a 10% saving on that car full:D.
Now M has just told me (now:eek:) I saved 8% on my beer by buying 4 cases but could have saved 15% if I had picked up 6:rolleyes:.

Anyway its been a lovely day and been lovely and warm, Going in for a dip now.
All those that aren't used to the heat stay inside, We love it:D.

I've just been having a look at what may be wrong with my digger. It will go backward but not forward. I've brought the forward & reverse lever home to play with. I couldn't quite work out the logic of the pins on the connector block, but on drilling out the rivets and dismantling the mechanism I think I've found the problem:

There are two micro-switches. The bottom one still has a youthful spring in its step and emits a satisfying click when its little tab is pushed in. The top one has gone all loose and floppy and has no click at all. The little button under the tab (which you can make out on the bottom one) has disappeared. So it looks like I'll need a new switch. I thought it was something electrical rather than mechanical, judging by the fact that reverse worked and you could hear relays clicking all over the place, except when pushing the lever forward.

Glad you found your problem. I would replace them both if it were me. ;-)

Just come in for a tea, having finished the slabs down one side and started the slabs on the curved end.
Managed to do all this before the sun touched where I was working.
Am beginning to appreciate the simple yet effective design of a plain builders trowel. Particularly as I am able to use it more or less the same with both hands. (I never normally do this sort of buildery/cementery/concretery type work.)
Have a lovely day folks!!

I've ordered another switch assembly. With JCBs it's a bit like Land Rovers. The spares availability is pretty good so there's no point dismantling the stalk switches and repairing them at component level, it's just too tempting to chuck a new one on.

..... that I had a good search on google and found a Mini specialist near me (7 miles or so).
Booked in for diagnostics on Monday and a "fix" plan after that. :)
Man knew exactly what the fault code had to say and asked me all the right questions.
Says it could be actuating solenoids, blocked strainers or the timing chain/tensioner is fubar.

Fingers crossed it is a simple fix.

Fingers crossed for you here an all!;)

Well...
worked ffin hard and long today though with a huge lunch break to avoid the worst of the heat. All the re-slabbing done except one little fill in piece that will need shortening with the big grinder fitted with a stone cutting saw. Must have lifted re-levelled and replaced about 40 slabs or bits of slabs. Used half a bag of cement and obvs loads more sand and that was where I didn't just use sand on its own. Amazing how much the beggars had sunk!
Then it's back to the jointing again.
Or maybe I'll finish off the weed whacking first.
27 C inside the house in its coolest part at the mo. But worked in the shade of a sun umbrella most of the day. But no breeze and it is in a suntrap.
Sleep well folks!
