Well fancy that. I just went out to put the bins out for dustbin day tomorrow and I saw a hedgehog in the garden:

Well, garden is a rather grand word, it's more a little yard at the back of an inner city terraced house, but there it was. Quite a large one too. Had the decency to stay put while I got a camera. It's impressive that they can flourish in such a built up environment.
p.s. I see what it's doing - there's a slug in the background just beside it.

No badgers around to eat them alive then. ;)

Eye has found worreye fink is baby cattapillers on edgar. Black wiv orange bits. Eye has flicked em oft. The web ses cattapillers eat crispmus tree's.

When eye wur in junior school there was a gardening club to teach gardening. Growing fings like sweet pee's. Eye wurn't involved burreye remember them talking about spraying soapy watta under leafs to stop flies ont plants. Eye wonder if that would help edgar.

E's a daft tree. He liked the cattapillers and fort they were playing wiv im.

It's dustbin day today. In my bit of the East Midlands we still have weekly collections for general household waste. I love dustbin day. It makes me feel cleansed and purged, like having a really good crap.
I'm hoping the forecast rain turns up today in Wales, because my little plants and trees will be wanting a drink I expect.

Wish we had one here. A dustbin day, I mean.
For household waste we have to carry the bin bags to a big type wheelie bin on the local playing field about 200-300 yds each way.
But bottles and other recyclables I have to put in the car and drive into the village.
Which I will be doing in a little while.
Still it'll be a start on warming the car up so I can research into why it is losing more coolant than I'd like.

Larst night, sitting here at my pooter in the quiet once W had gone to bed, heard a bit of a crash in the kitchen/utility. A bag of recycling, bottles, had fallen over. Saw it without putting the lights on, did nuffin about it.
Went back to the pooter.
Then a little while later heard a dull sort of thud, again from the kitchen.
Went and had a look.
A melon that W had left on top of summat on the worktop had managed to get itself off the summat and roll off the work top.
So i put it back up and told it to go back to sleep.
This a.m. got up, went to get a tray for betfuss and found the bottle bag had let an Armagnac bottle out which had bruk.
So spent a while keeping the dogs out while I cleaned all the bruk glass up, AGAIN! Tiled floors are as unforgiving as a hard worktop.

We can get pretty much anything taken away if it'll fit in a wheelie bin. I was even told this by a council employee, some years ago when I phoned them to arrange a bulky refuse collection - that if the said items could be broken up and put in a wheelie bin then I should do so rather than request a separate collection. We have a great many wheelie bins in this neighbourhood due to the large number of burglars who live round here. Apparently, some time ago burglars stopped carrying large bags marked 'Swag' and began using wheelie bins instead. That way, in the very unlikely event that the police cruise by, you can merely let go of the wheelie bin and look innocent. Plus, if your ill-gotten gains weigh more than 25kg you're not allowed to lift them single handed as a result of changes in health and safety legislation. So we have loads of wheelie bins. Often with writing on them proclaiming their former homes elsewhere in the city. Indeed, we have so many that when I visit friends in areas with more stringent recycling policies I bring their rubbish home with me to put in the bins round here.
