Well the new henhoose has landed.
I thort, looking at it, "that'll go in the Disco easy" so folded the back seats forward and off we went. got there and first of all it was just about 1 cm too tall to go in, so back out and roofs off, then back in again only this time, even hitching the nesting box thing onto the folded down rear seats the door was never going to get anywhere near closed, so back out again and nesting box taken off.
Back in again but door still wouldn't quite close. At least I always has tie down type stuff so was able to secure the rear door to within about 3" of closed.
So reassembled and her the blinking thing is.
Had to "modify" it to give it a bit more strength as the Vent d'autan when it blows could knock this thing around, as it did the old one, Here....
It's far too big and far too ricketty to mend yet again. We bought one that could take 8 hens easy, and they only ever used a bit of it. Two peeps don't need that many so we cut down to about 4 in the end. then new one will take 2 or three.
Here are the other bits of it some of which I will fix up so they have a run with sun/rain protection but they will be able during the day to run around another enclosure which will be made of special netting mounted on special poles.
In the last one you can see the two roof parts of the old one, which are skanky as heck now.
Think I might cover the roof sections of the new one in black plastic right away as it is tough stuff and will protect the rather naff stuff it is made from!
I'll also fasten the roofs down and we are looking at anchoring the whole thing to the ground in some way to stop it getting blown over during the winter as the old one did.
Flipping wind!
