Lr did the same. After the success of the Freelander they based all future lr's on that. Independent suspension. Got rid of the rusty chassis in favour of a unibody construction. They even put a 2L 4 cylinder hengin int latest phev range rover anorl. Makes sense really. When yer gottid perfection yer can't do betterer so copy it.
Fink the first Disco was on a RR chassis, but may be wrong.

Have you tried using a "bidwatcher" program (if it was and e-bay item)?
I use a program called Jbidwatcher and it lets you set your max-bid and sticks bids in right up to your max bid in the closing moments of the auction.

I have won several items thisa way, and avoided "win at all costs" fever ;)
but, but , but, .......that's what eBay can do anyway. ;)
Make sure you are the top bidder then set a max bid at what you are really prepared to pay, then just leave it to run.
Walk away, DON't get back on.
This is how we bought tons of stuff at our local auction rooms, we only ever do commission bids, stops us being stupid.
But you do need to decide what you are really prepared to pay.;)
It does remove the win-at-all costs thing, as you say.:)
(We don't even watch the auction on the pooter.):)

Well, yes and no. Jbidwatcher waits until shortly before the auction is due to end before showing ANY interest at all.
Then at a predetermined T-"X" seconds it fires in your bid at slightly above the current best bid and then if you get outbid it bids again, up to your max ceiling value.

Well Dottir is going for her Scan today as her D-dimmer score is at 1500, should be 400, taking anti-coagulants so we have everything crossed for her.:(:(:(
Apart from that, it's been rainy and miserable, shopping arrived, no gluten free hot cross buns for Wifey, one banana, (FFS) not much else happening.
Except a tile has bruk on a roof in Frogland, so our neighbours are going to sort it out. Thank god for decent neighbours. :):):)
Oh and it's still too cold to put the heating off. So the new rad is still leaning against the wall!
Have a good Friday folks!:):):)

Ah!
I getcher now!
Can see how that might get the price down, or rather lower than it could get bid up to.
In the early days of eBay I did see bids put in where peeps had obvs worked out how many seconds they could do it before bidding ended.
That was when I started doing what I just outlined.
Didn't want three scrotes all sitting together on their mobiles putting in last second bids to block my bid out. ;)

Eye admit ter last second bidding if eye want somefink. But eye still have a limit on what eye want to pay and dun't go above that if a bidding war starts.

If you want to do that and don't want to miss it, or stay up til stupid o'clock ...

Get 'Auctionsniper', load the account with dollars, sterling, euros or whatever and it'll do the stuff for you ...
