Guardian - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...put-all-european-countries-on-travel-red-list
The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Steps) (England) Regulations 2021 – on Thursday, which would come into effect 29 March if passed. Under the laws, attempting to leave the UK without a reasonable excuse would result in a £5,000 fine under new coronavirus laws.

Here it is https://www.itv.com/news/2021-03-23...-allows-overseas-travel-despite-the-covid-ban
The exemption, dubbed the "Stanley Johnson clause" will allow trips for the "purchase, sale, letting or rental of a residential property".
The legislation also gives an exemption for “preparing a residential property to move in” or “to visit a residential property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property”.

So @Stanleysteamer you can't go on holiday to your gite in France but you can to do essential repairs and maintenance for potential sale or letting....."
Not that I would encourage such blatant rule bending eh Stanley (Johnson and Steamer ;))

We don't come into any of those categories and we wouldn't play fast and loose with the system.

Not disagreeing about the time thing, although even when being scrupulous about the MOT most of the time there is too much time.
But according to the guy yesterday, the tester can use his card anywhere, no just in the garage he works in, and that is the problem. it USED to be that they had to use the terminal in the garage, but that has gone now.:eek::eek:
The card links the user to the mot and yer have to state the location. So it's still a safe system. Only registered companies with the right kit can do it. It's the card holder that's made responsible for the test being done propper these days. With internet on phones etc then its possible too wander about but cheating the system means the man from the ministry ses no if yer logged doing somefink wrong. Then yer lose yer card. Also penalties fer doing fings wrong like fines. Like most fings theres a loop hole to get round. A typical moter would lose income if they had their card taken oft them.
