It looks a bit as if it is hanging in mid-air, but then so did the ones angled to the right. then i looked more closely!

The stairway is notched into the joist at the rear & that post is just supporting the hand rail
sitting on a block to be shuttered & concreted in.

Far left front corner, for one!
I think they preferred to put the supports where there was granite conveniently placed to put a support on and then made corner posts supported underneath by angled sections. Where there was a bit of granite under a corner then they could just go straight down on to it. Kev's mate would know. i think Kev has just been labour on this project, but I may be wrong, he'll tell us!

This was very well planned, my mate done the top part design but it changed a quite dramatically
as we went along & the customer wanted extras,(go on then lol) it started out as just a 10ft x10ft platform an grew arms n legs. My mate's father in law is a architect so was invited for a few
drams wink wink

The top... main supports & joists are all bolted into the rock this took 3 weeks & 2 diamond blades
for the stihl saw, not counting cutting back the trees & digging/pressure washing down to the rock.
I have been very much involved in the design & building, id give the credit to my mate for taking the
lead an making it happen & doing the staircases as its not my bag.

Tis looking good for a couple of chancers dont you think.

It IS good looking, and for chancers you've done a good job.
You were being too modest earlier on, which gave me the idea that you were more involved in the building than the design. so anyway, well done, again.
When considering doing a bit of "flying" decking off the back of our place in France, we already have a covered "au vent" which I decked last year, and we wanted to extend it to make a kind of L shape but exactly what you have done would have been impossible as the ground just off the house is a mound put down when the house was built so not suitable without piling. A cantilevered version would have been possible but would have had to have been part of the original design. But it isn't a problem as we already have three paved or decked areas outside the back of the house which vary in size and shade. We are though going to put up a F off big sail to shade one of the patios which gets really hot in the summer. We just need to sink one very large pole, the rest of it can come off the house.
