Yesterday I got it up on a high stand in my shed I forgot how bloody heavy they were.

Took a bit of figuring out how I was to lift it up without any lifting equipment. Managed to get in on a 3 foot stand. I started wire brushing it down and removing the hidious level and drain bungs to replace them with new ones. I think I can get a few more inches ground clerance aswell with a bit of grinding. Being a comp motor I'm not worried too much so I'll dig out the grinder before I mount the springs on.

Front axle is proving to be a pain...... got some HD shafts but they are for the later weaker CV's so not good add to that you can't easily fit series III drums to the front of later hubs Doh Doh Doh Should have brought Ashcroft shafts!!! But Will figure out a way ther is always a way around problems.

Good old wire brush selection in a drill Local place does a kit for £2 so I will buy a few sets but been good so far. If I need to do anything special Spitfiremk1uk has sand blasting equip if It gets that bad.

I do have one issue thats slowing me down I've lost my impact driver bits  You know its been put away so you know where they are. I just cannot remember where for the life of me.

No I mean the Camera pics, I got some free money and I'm going to buy a new camera. I can't decide if I want to invest massive amounts of money in a big heavy expensive full frame, or go smaller and cheaper and get one of these...

more chuffin brake problems....

Last weekend I fitted the new seals to both rear cylinders. I put everything back together, got the easybleed hooked up, started to get a firm pedal then all of a sudden it goes straight to the floor again. Stripped everything down and the rear right cylinder is peeing out fluid. Righto. New seals obviously not working, so new cylinders ordered

I got the cylinders this week, so go to replace the leaky one. This time I completely mess the bleeding up and spray brake fluid all over the drive. Bugger. Eventually get everything back together, bleed again and ....... pedal is still soft. Take the left wheel off and the left cylinder is now leaking. I look at the paddocks replacement cylinder for the left and its different to the one on the right. I've got one girling and one bearmach.

I really don't want different cylinders on the back, so I'll have to send that back and get it changed. I'm getting really peed off with this now, its just turned into a complete time sink, and I've been off the road for weeks. I hate to say it but I'm wondering if it might by time for the 109 to go.....

Nothing wrong with different make cylinders as long as they don't leak. I always buy the best ones they have, never go for the pattern ones it always cost you money in the long run.

The one on there is a girling, the one I haven fitted yet is a bearmarch pattern one so this is one of the reasons I didn't want to fit it. Its obviously a different size - the pistons are longer and far more heavily sprung, so apart from the problems with pattern parts, I concerned about it mucking up the brake balance too.

The money is an insurance payout for my 5D

And I've been thinking if a camera is so big/bulky/expensive that you only take it out on special occasions, well then that defeats the object somewhat.... Taking that 5D out was like a military operation...

So I've decided, I'm going 4/3rds and using the extra money for something usefull, like hookers and drugs.....

Nooooonoooo! Please don't be saying this! How much are you getting from the insurance company? Nothing even within a mile of the 5d mark 2's price range can compete on image quality! And they seem so cheap nowadays! Think of how it will perform when there is less light. :5bdrool5: Think of that huge bright optical viewfinder. :5bdrool5: I will have your money if you want to just **** it away!!! :D:D

Get a 17-40 for it if that's all you can afford with it for now. It's super light, cheap and decent quality! If you can get another lens look for a used 70-200. F4 if you are feeling old and weak and 2.8 if you are sane! You should pick one up as good as new second hand for a fair whack less than a new one!
