Are you sure the clutch plate isn't excessively worn? Or perhaps a crack in the clutch fork, allowing it to flex a little when pressure is applied?

Hey Mr V, got your PM and replied... got the message after we decided to go out tonight though. In the end we changed out mind 'cos the baby wouldn't stop screaming. Honestly, five minutes being used as a waffle board and the child complains for ever more!

Carpy, Make sure you have some freeplay otherwise you will be fitting a clutch again pretty soon. If you have freeplay things should be ok if not I think* somone will back me up here that you can adjust the pedal on the mastercylinder under the clutch cover the 2 nuts and threaded rod entering the master cylinder. When you mean sticking how do you mean can you explain in more detail? Jai

You don't wanna be forking out for a new flywheel cos they are kin expensive new for a little time spent fixing ur mota. Disn't Kris fit ur new clutch? I'm sure Kris would have done the setting up and free play.

Carpy,
Have you checked the level?

First set the pedal height, then adjust the pushrod the give the little freeplay needed. (If you haven't disturbed any of the clutch components, then you shouldn't need to adjust the pedal.) If you have then I guess it may be in need of adjustment but this is only to do with pedal and freeplay (which is Very important to get right).

see you lot soon off camping in sidmouth devon for a week .Have a go day at waddon if you all go carpy.
No Whaddon for me this week. Finances are a little tight and still have so much to do with Kai's chassis.

Had the estate agent round this morning, some complaining asshole (for asshole read: "The silly old with opposite") has complained to the landlady about the land rover in the front garden. Got all sorts of questions but had to point out to the estate agent that we had declared our hobby and the fact that we worked on vehicles in our spare time prior to taking up tennancy.

Seriously thinking about an all night party just to let her know what bad neighbours are really like... so if you want job completed through the night let me know!

Bloody complaining asshole she-bitch from hell! Maybe I should block HER drive with a couple of 4x4s then see what she's got to say... mind you have to be careful, they're all coppers round here!

Bloody estate agent even had the audacity to mention that one of my vehicles was not taxed! The fact that it is on my drive and sorned went completely without comment!

sorry about tonight guys, i ended up taking 12 hours doing 2 wheel bearings for a mate, was a bastid i tell ya.

Will hopefully catch up with ya'll soon
12 hours.... two wheel bearings? have you had some kind of accident and ended up in plaster?

You could always drop the vehicles round here and my ten year old will do them in about 3 hours for ya!

snigger:)... but in a nice friendly way!

LOL normally yea 3 hours for 2 sounds about right,
but when ur monkey of a mate knew the bearing had collapsed on both sides and then still driven it for about 30 miles it becomes a bit of a pain in the arse to a) get em off in the first place and b) salvage the stub axel as he doesnt have any money to replace it!
Got there in the end though :)
I then noticed some oil dripping down the front of the Grille on his 58 plate defender, open the bonnet and COVERED apparently a brake vacum pump? a common occurance on the new engine? warranty will replace it though :)
Oh of the love of land rovers ;-)

Dan

best i can explain is it feels like there is constantly a partial application of te clutch. you know if you sometimes dont let off fully and then when you put down instead of power being transferred to drive it just revswithout getting you anywhere fast. when pulling away the bite point is really quite high. it somehow just doesnt "feel" right

worst bit is im in fooking wales - so i gotta at the least get 3 hours of motorway driving in with it as it is.

i cant see anything directly clutch elated has happened coz the new clutch has been in less than 2 weeks, as with the clutch fork, and everything no the clutch was rosy till 2 days ago

brand new clutch includng heavy duty clutch fork so shouldnt be

Right mate, sounds like the slave cylinder is playing up to me. Ive had 1 that released very slowly and gave a slipping clutch. The piston was covered in fine swarf from machining and had to be taken apart and cleaned. It was such a hastle I wish I just replaced it in the end.
Last Thursday my clutch fork burst through the pivot point and had to come home on a recovery truck. got it sorted over the weekend with the help of Dan and Glen. My slave cylinder is also on its last legs and will get replaced next weekend. My pedal has a bit of freeplay but the clutch is working fine.
What we did find in the bellhousing was blades of grass where I have been silly enuf to go wading in smallish puddles without my plug fitted. It will be fitted every single time i go offroad now.

You are right mate. The pivot bolt is accentric and adjusts the pedal height to match the brake pedal. :D

I just want to add that you are right Jai in what you say about us not painting a very good picture of ourselves on the site and giving the anti's all the fuel they need.
