I'm not counting my chicken yet but the big end shells were well worn. Just got to put oil in the morning to see if it's any better. Then change over the turbo from my new donor engine. Fingers crossed.

Sounds hopeful, the shells are designed to wear, you still had oil pressure so fingers crossed...

Well turns out me and Brian discovered what was causing the braking issues on Rusty:

So added new bits along with a brake line from Brian after one of mine fell apart.

Made it home so seems all is well for now.

Guys this is prob a easy job fr you all buy for me it is all learning! Never having worked on a car I only ever hve helpe out with someone who's good at stuff like it. Anyway after starter motor problem thought I would get the motor off and look at it and clean the cog/shaft and cylinder/solinoid well it was stuck like **** it it free with wd40 then wirewool it up a treat! Not perfect but best I could get and it's now running free and started first 2nd and 3rd time with ease!! Chuffed to bits! Sad I know but for me its a big leap forward well chuffed

Well done Dan, cheaper than a new one, and i bet you want to take something else off and fix that now.

Yeah if I'm honesty it does make me want to do other bits now! But need todo my first green lane first. Want to try my local ones with someone see I there accessable and knowing I won't get stuck then can do them on my own. Practise ready to come out with you guys

If you can do this then you can do most maintanance jobs for a landrover, they are barn door engineering at its best, wheel bearings, brakes, oils e.t.c. are all just as simple...

I imagine at some point soon everyone is going to want to try out thier repairs with a bit of laning, I wouldn't mind trying the Braintree/Sudbury routes, they seem quite good and a few around, chuck in a few fords although I imagine levels will be a bit lower with the last week being dry...

Got mine finished today, so as everyones motors are getting back on the road maybe a day / evening out soon.
Should not really be doing lanes by yourself, if it goes tits up half way down a muddy lane the AA will not come and get you, there will always be someone up for it to join you.

Nice one mate, it's nice to 'do stuff' and make things work again!

You can do more stuff now ... ;)

trying to figure out how to install my cb radio!! gone up to a 15amp fuse and it still blows i cannot find how high the fuse needs to be but the cable doesnt seem thick enough for any bigger amp!!

Not up on electrics but 15amp seems quite high. have you not got a wiring diagram, if not go to manufactures web site and look on there.

15 amp is more than enough. Wire the cb up directly to the battery with a 15 amp fuse inline, if it blows it's the cb, if not then check the power wire to make sure its not earthing out?

What circuit have you wired it into? May be adding too much load and blowing, do you lose anything else, interior light e.t.c.?
