which diagnostic machine do you use for your range rover

I can't comment on other systems but my Nano Evo is very good. I've also found support from BBS very good. I purchased mine second hand and unlocked for P38 diesels. I then purchased the THOR license. One thing BBS made sure I had was the correct lead. Apparently I needed the green plug not the blue. So worth bearing in mind if you buy a second hand unit and it's not the correct lead. It does have some quirks. The worst one being when reading live data. If you try to connect the Nano with the engine running it will bomb you out. So you have to connect it, switch on the ignition,select the correct engine type then once it has authenticated the license start the car. Becomes a bit of a bind when you need to keep starting the engine. Apart from that it works really well and has been an absolute Godsend to me during my recent issues.
 
Very simple. A quick e mail was all it took. I did mention the previous owners name as way of comforming I purchased it and hadn't stole it
 
just been over to jacks to see his lynx system in action and was very impressed in its ease of use looked really simple and accessed everything i asked it to just a shame it found faults that i didnt know i had :eek::D

Do ant of you guys know of anyone near Halifax West York's with one of these tools my friend has a snap on diagnostic set he had to buy another key for my 1996 p38 4.6 and it still wouldn't pick up the abs and tc / srs light i have on the snap on guy says he might need another key for that and update of his hand set poss £500 so i cant see him laying that out I would be happy to pay for someone local rather than my local landy garage £45 + vat

well i ended up with a lynx system just arrived today and waiting for the registration email to come back from them and then we should be good to go thanks for all the comments and input much appreciated :D

Can you let us know if it does the injector readings
Calibrate the blend motors and do fip timing modulation I'm intrested to know :)

Blend motor calibration isn't on the menu but maybe its done with a reset, take Lynx half a minute or so, not totally 100% sure but why shouldn't they be calibrated after the long reset and no more book symbol...

I've never found a calibration option in Lynx - I don't think it can do it.
 
i went for lynx due to being able to use a laptop/netbook and under £100 cheaper i just couldnt afford any more money when i came down to it (wifes anniversary and her and daughters birthdays coming up) and and cannot use them touch screen thingamy bobs but its down to your own preference yep the nano does a bit more apparently but i am happy with the lynx at the moment
 
Having said that, buying a cheapo laptop plus delivery comes to £70 odd.......whereas Nano stand alone, more independent, less connections/things to fail...handier......less clunky ( whatever that means!)........any more thoughts guys?

but with it being a standalone if you drop its game over for the screen or ya can just do as i did and just nick the kids netbook like me :D:D:D:D:D cost priceless:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi

Nano appears very rugged. However if you dropped if from a great height then I'm sure it will break. The support I've had for mine has been great even though I purchased it second hand. Has done everything I've asked of it. Does have some silly quirks the pain being that you must connect to the engine ECU with ignition on then start the engine. If you have the engine running and try to read the fault codes etc it will bomb you out. Which is a bit of pain as if you want to read a live feed then stop the engine, adjust something then check again you have to turn the ign on, then come out of the engine ECU, go back in then start the car. In pracyice it takes seconds but when your just on the verge of throwing a wobbler at the car it doesn't help your mental state!!!! This may only be on THOR engines. GEMS and Diesels maybe different. Also has it's own web forum where firmware updates are announced etc.. Easy to update as well. I'm very pleased with mine and it's small enough to stash in the car.
