Been having another play with the 2000 TD5 defender today and it's obvious I need a code reader as per the advice in the fuelling issue thread.
I've ben having a look at what appear to be the main condendors, both new and used: GAP ID, Hawkeye, Nanocom, Empire tuning just map it tool.

I'm relatively new to playing with diagnostic tools and my experience so far is limited to using an Autel system from a friendly garage.

The vehicle has been stood for 3 to 4 years so I'm going to have to check all systems. At the moment it won't start. (won;t crank now).

Has anyone used any (or ideally all) of the above and if so can you share pro's and cons of any of the above? It's only going to be used on this one vehicle so if it's cheaper to buy a full functionality reader with a single vehicle license then that's fine.

I have down a search but there doesn't seem to a comprehensive thread highlighting the pro's and cons and comparisons.

Thanks in advance

I wonder if it depends on what you want to do. If you have a base model then there will be less systems to diagnose.
We don't have a Nanocom but it seems like it covers just about everything you would need.
