Coil springs or not coil springs

I was hoping that it was just the compressor but I was also exexpecting it would be something else wishing it was not be though it was something else

I would say that it dose have a leak as when looking at it the back is lower then the front it might be because I toke the compressor off but then shorly the fount would be as low as the back plus is it just a plug in and go or do I have to plug it in to the computer and reset it

Then a large 4x4 with air suspension is not the right choice. if someone wants a cheap 4x4 then maybe a Suzuki Vitara would be a better choice.

why, a large 4x4 makes a better tow vehicle ,just because some are snobbish about air shouldnt effect others choices

But that a hair dressers car not a proper 4X4 but you can still have a 4X4 and do the the things that need doing cheaper then going to a garage that will cost the earth there are some things that will cost more but if you shop around you can find thing cheaper IF I went do the road of coil springs then I did find some for £190

Sorry, not buying that.

Garages don't replace a door if it's gets paint scratched. they don't replace a block or head because a stud snaps.

I'm more happy with the justification that 'it's on coils because I'm clueless' rather than justification through price or mechanics liability insurance.

Some garages fit poor no name brand tyres and charge the customer a premium price. They fit cheap pattern parts and quote OEM prices in their invoices.

I know a few people in the trade.. I've restored classics I've owned and used garages and know when to spot a poor garage. I've seen work that should be investigated under trades descriptions act ive seen work that is pure dangerous and cars refurned to owners following a full retail bill. liability insurance is a very spurious argument. I don't want to get into a p××sing match here, like I said, I'm happier with the justification that it's on coils because a garage or owner didn't know what they are doing than any other justification.

Compressor is plug and play unless you have the "slow 35 mph" message, in which case you will need the EAS software and a laptop to unlock the EAS.
The Vitara and other Suzuki's are very capable 4 x 4's off road. Not as good at heavy towing as the P38 though.

It has chuff all to do with being 'snobbish about air.

The P38 was designed with air. it doesn't have levelling or adjusting headlights because it didn't need them with air. blinding everyone at night because of towing is neither safe nor considerate. that's not snobbish.

A vehicle unstable at motorway speed is not snobbish, it's safety to the people travelling in the car or the people that near 2 tonnes of well built range rover may slam into out if control.

Them is safety issues. not snobbishness.

they are perfectly safe like any coil sprung vehicle ie discos,it is snobbishness,when we are talking about old cheap 4x4s

they wouldnt replace a door if paint was scratched theyd send it to the spray shop, you wont find many garages willing to fit used parts,unless you supply them and then they wouldnt like that anyhow, cheap pattern parts unlike used are considered ok if they fail they dont have the risks used parts do for anybody fitting them, whether you like it or not it does make some jobs too dear an expense for a cheap 4x4 for some people

Lets put it this way, i would much rather carryout an high speed evasive manoeuvre in a P38 sat down at motorway height, with it's centre of gravity lowered, than i would in one on coils or in a Disco for that matter. Coils remove a safety feature. And as said by others remove self levelling when loaded.

I've owned many coil spring cars. my Cayenne is coil sprung. comparing a P38 on coils to any other coil sprung car is a moot argument. they were designed to be on coils. the height reduction function at speed is not gimmick. it came about through a requirement for the vehicle. Period

its not a matter of whether you think air or coils have better attributes its just practicality for many
