    Diesel heater

Go for a 2kw heater, they put out plenty of heat and are smaller than the 5kw versions. They will fit in the tool box under the driver's seat and the hot air pipe can go out of the back of the tool box and up in front of the rear bulkhead between the front seats. Put a vent on the tool box lid...

    Glowplugs

Not an answer to your question, but if you are going to remove the glowplugs, they will be easier to remove from a hot engine.

    R380 stumpy conversion

Just in case someone has the same problem, I ended up using the original LT77 push rod on the advice of Ashcrofts, and all seems to work from a static test. The ftc3912 option was about another 20mm longer and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. The joy o old Land Rovers.

    R380 stumpy conversion

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am preparing a short bellhousing R380 to go into my 110. I am struggling with clutch pushrods as there seem to be various options. I'm not sure why there is much difference as despite the various bell housing lengths, I would imagine that the distance...

    Ex RAF? Defender 90 1986

If it is ex-military, the date of first registration (assuming it's DVLA) will be much later than it's year of manufacture.

    110 Fuel Tank Bolts

I replaced my tank a while ago and got a full set of fittings, I don't remember having too many problems removing the old bits. I do remember thinking that I might have struggled if I had used plain nuts and bolts rather than the proper captive parts.

    R380 Front Cover/Lay Shaft Bearing

I am replying to this old post because I had the same issue and this post came up on a google search. Hopefully it may assist someone else having the same issue and like me, is having a little panic. The front layshaft bearing, (the lower one) is a sloppy fit in the bolt on housing on the front...

    Replace R380 input shaft.

Thanks for your replies, it's in bits at the moment, just awaiting a couple of bearings. I managed to remove the input pinion without moving the mainshaft, but only time will tell if I have to dismantle it further to re-fit the pinion.

    Replace R380 input shaft.

Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to convert a TD5 R380 to a R380 Stumpy without destroying anything expensive.

    V8 Lack of power

Check the mixture adjustment, there is a small pin under the float chamber, it pushes the piston up slightly. If the mixture is correct the engine revs should increase slightly, then return to normal. If the revs stay increased it is too rich, if it slows it is too weak. Are both carbs opening...

    Replace R380 input shaft.

I need to replace the input shaft on a R380 gearbox. I know that I have to pull the box apart and remove the gear on the back of the layshaft, but do I have to disturb the gears on the rear of the mainshaft ? I'm hoping that I can get sufficient movement by moving the layshaft forwards to allow...

2.5 NA won’t start after injection pump swap.

Admittedly not a Land Rover, but when I was struggling to start a van after a top end rebuild, despite following all the injector bleeding ritual, I tow started it a short distance and it cracked up no problem. Could be worth a try if you have a mate handy with another Land Rover.

    Yet another LT77 Gearbox Question.

I have a LT77 gearbox in my 110, I have noticed that when I remove the drain plug / oil filter housing on the 5th gear extension housing very little oil comes out despite the main box being full. Is this normal? I have always drained the main part / front of the box first previously so always...

Advice on brake master cylinder and rear brake valve

The parts book lists pressure reducing valve ANR1415 for a disc brake 110/130 without ABS. I would be very surprised if any non-abs system did not use a pressure reducing valve, it is very dangerous if the rear brakes lock up under heavy braking.

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Have you tried running it in gear with the transfer box in neutral? If it still makes the noise then you can discount the transfer box and U/J's.

    INSA TURBO Risko MT

Thanks, I think that 750's are being phased out, I will be swapping onto 235-85-16 when I change, just need all four to wear out at the same time. The Sahara's seem to be on back order with most of the cheaper suppliers at the moment, which is why I was considering alternatives. I think I will...

    INSA TURBO Risko MT

Looking at replacing my tyres on my 110. I currently have 750-16 Insa Turbo Sahara tyres, but I'm looking at fitting Insa Turbo Risko MT. Other than the 5hite name, does anyone have any experience of these tyres? How would they compare with the Insa Turbo Sahara tyres?

    The standard leaking roof

I do wonder how many Land Rover leaks are actually condensation? After all there aren't many joints above the gutter.

    300tdi Manual to Auto conversion

I used to drive an early 300tdi Auto, it was as flat as a witch's tit. They are as numb as anything and like driving a 2.5 N/A with a slightly slightly faster top end.
