    Transfer Box Leak

Cheers guys... as I thought:( Now to see if I can get it done... have tried Ashcrofts as they fitted both main and transfer boxes as recon units about 20,000 miles ago - but crucially long enough ago for their warranty to have expired...

Bump If anyone can check out my picture above and offer any advice.... pleeese:)

    Transfer Box Leak

I appear to have a similar leak, and have taken a picture.... the oil 'flow' seems to be sufficient to keep the area clean! Can anyone confirm my fear that this is the input seal leaking? From the look of this should it be a priority... as I will have to get someone to do it for me - any idea...

TD5 making the clutch lighter for next to nothing

I wish I had found this post before doing mine! I followed the LRO magazine article in their June 2011, it's a bit vague on which part of the spring to locate first... I hooked the centre on first (mistake, having read the above!)... one side went in OK... second side was a pig to say the...

    TD5 oil pump gone???

There must be some record from the production line to indicate which engine numbers were affected by this? I've got the bits - bolt/gaskets/sealant... but now recovering from a wrist fracture... am happy to have managed a filter and oil change. I think it would be easier to drop the sump with...

    Which Alloy Wheels

I think you'll find the Discovery 1 and Defender wheels will fit... the problem comes with rear drum brakes rather than the drive shaft cap. Spacers can be used if needed.

    TD5 no power

I would check the fuel pump - gauze at the base of the unit can get clogged... if that is dirty, run through/replace all filters in the line - that may include the pencil filter behind the fuel pressure regulator. I had lumpy/low power when my fuel pump died... just about got me home, but felt...

    Lead Blankets!! ??

I fitted the Noise Killer front and under bonnet kit... made a big difference. As part of the purchase you have the future option of a discount on their lead blankets, but I haven't felt the need for one of them as well. I have heard that the acoustic engine cover and underneath covers were to...

    Roof tent wanted

Hey ER1C have you checked these guys, I was impressed with their stand at the Stratford Overland Show... and a few exhibitors were using these annexes too... about half the price of a roof tent, although they do them too? www.tuff-trek.com

    Roof tent wanted

I had thought of putting a 2 man pop up tent on the roof, which I have seen done... but not sure if you end up with the worst of everything - cramped, hard to get in and out (especially the 3am wee!!), unable to stand up, have to sleep in the car park - fine if it's level, increased vehicle...

    Motorail in europe?

Hmmm.... thanks for getting back to me on that.... I was thinking of going August 2016, so hopefully the refugee situation might have calmed down by then... but still have to get under the height restriction!... or I guess I'll have to get used to motorway driving:(

Not exactly Germany but close enough

Hi guys... I've posted on the expeditions forum... but wondering if you have come accross the motorail service running between Dusseldorf and Vienna?...

    Motorail in europe?

I am considering a trip to Montenegro, and am looking at the option of sticking the Landy on a train from Dussedorf to Vienna. The idea of avoiding hours of boring motorway - not the ideal territory for a defender - and making progress while asleep appeals... as a better use of my limited...

puma steering wheel on 300 tdi

I think the Puma steering wheels don't have the pins to cancel the indicator. I found a later leather steering wheel with pins and 48 spline which fitted my TD5 perfectly... it may have been a late TD5 model, rather than Puma, hence the pins... ask the seller for a picture of the back side of...

Seat Riser rails and headrest removal?

I've had a Caranex for quite a few years now, but it's not allways possible to pitch where you stop, and can be a faf if you want to go out to the pub before going to bed. Having a bed in the back - I wouldn't even have to leave the pub!! I did look at the cat flap/tail gate arrangement used on...

    Rear Door spare wheel mount.

Bit of drilling required for swingaway mounts on bodywork...mines quite a tight fit, but it opens and shuts with the door easy peasy. Hopefully this door will last longer!

    Rear Door spare wheel mount.

Couldn't you get a wheel cover printed up to suit your advertising needs, and leave it on the back door? I fitted a bonnet mount on my 200TDi a while ago, and the kit came with reinforcing braces that were riveted to the existing frame... considered this for my current TD5, but there's not a kit...
