Seat Riser rails and headrest removal?

On the quest to convert a 90 into a camper for two!

Just wondering if seat riser rails will enabel me to push the drivers seat back far enough to fold flat - after removing the seat base?

Have any of you with these seat risers ever tried this?

I have an early TD5 with the single stem headrest... is it possible to pop this up and out?... with the same aim of trying to fold the drivers seat flat.

Piece of 1" ply across the wheel boxes and spoon like you've never spooned before!

To remove the headrest you need to remove a metal detent that is inside the stem. In order to get to that detent you will need to partially disassemble the back of the seat to reach it.

I once saw a peugeot partner that someone was using to cart a kit car around in. He'd put ramps in the back that pulled out and pinned up so that they can be fixed horizontal. Then with the rear door hinged at the top and forming a kind of 'roof' extension he fitted zip on sides that went all the way around and encased the car that was otherwise hanging out the arse of the car. Amazingly built. A small hole above the filler cap that a winch handle was fitted raised and lowered the car. Light board fixed onto the ramp. When I asked him how of earth this was legal, he said the trick was to build it so it look professional and that way no one would believe it wasn't.

Anyway...., it gave me an idea and I rigged a system to sleep in the back with a kind of awning extension, something like this...

only it was three sides and some hooks, very very basic. but did the job of giving enough space to sleep comfortably.

if you can't get the space you're after, something along these lines might be an idea.

Roof top tent or as Niall says sleep with your legs out the door.

I've had a Caranex for quite a few years now, but it's not allways possible to pitch where you stop, and can be a faf if you want to go out to the pub before going to bed. Having a bed in the back - I wouldn't even have to leave the pub!!

I did look at the cat flap/tail gate arrangement used on older series landies... but they don't come up too often and good ones aren't cheap. I like your thinking though

Headrest removal is not too bad, but you do need to peel the cover off from the bottom, poke a screw driver to release the catch and pull. Once off, you can disable the catch so that it's easy to take on and off with just a pull.
